My Book Is Taking Longer Than I Planned
I really thought I'd be further along by now. 😂 My fantasy book has taken longer than I originally planned. And you know what? I'm learning to be okay with that. ❤️ I'm learning from my characters. ❤️ I'm figuring out what works for me as a writer. ✍️ ❤️ I'm running The Storyteller's Path. ❤️ I'm spending time with my family. ❤️ I'm living my life. ❤️ And I'm still writing. 📖 That's something I've had to remind myself of. A writing journey doesn't have to look perfect to be real. I'm learning things through writing my own book that also help me understand the writers I work with in completely different ways. So I'm not rushing this experience away. I'm living it. Learning from it. And continuing to write. ✍️ Now I want to hear about YOUR journey. Has your book taken longer than you originally expected? What has the journey taught you? Share it in the comments! 👇

@Dani Rosenblad James Thanks Dani. You and your community are one of those things that keeps me consistent and in the writing zone.
Sometimes you don't know what your story means until you finally put it into words.
For a long time, I thought some experiences in my life were simply things I had to carry quietly. When I started writing , I realized something unexpected: Writing wasn't only about creating "a book". It helped me understand parts of myself I hadn't fully understood before. It helped me solve the problem about stop letting other people´s expectations to define your life. Maybe that's one of the reasons stories matter so much. We don't always write because we already understand the meaning. Sometimes we write because we're trying to understand it. I'm friendly curious: Is there something from your own life that you haven't fully understood until you started putting it into words?

Paradox and simultaneousness. Can I embody different perspectives and ways of being including the ones I disagree or find myself in conflict with. My writing has definitely helped with my real life wisdom and a little less reactivity in things. Speculative fiction is a great way to look at how things can get worse and better and how things could be different and the same. Both ands. Thanks for the question @Matea Dragosavljevic and @Dani Rosenblad James for highlighting it and knowing I’d have something to share.
My Book Is Teaching Me Patience
Every time I think I've figured out a chapter, It reminds me that stories have their own timing.⏱️ Some scenes arrive quickly while others take weeks. I've learned not to rush them but to stay on a schedule and to be consistent. Writing my fantasy trilogy, BOOK ONE, has taught me that creating something meaningful isn't about speed. It's about staying committed long enough to see the story unfold. ❤️ So important! ❤️ And honestly, I think life works that way too. What has writing been teaching you lately? Share it in the comments! Let’s all learn from them!

Love this @Dani Rosenblad James I’m practicing a similar perspective while balancing writing with working 3/4 time still.
Why Some People Stay With Us
Think about the last book you read. 📕 A podcast 🎤 A conversation 🗣️ Or a talk that stayed with you 🤩 Was it because you learned something new? Maybe. But I'd guess there was also a story. A moment that helped the lesson come alive. That's the part we remember. Stories don't replace information. They give it meaning. And that's why storytelling matters so much. It’s that bridge that connects people. And it’s a way to help people feel something. ✨ I'd love to hear yours. What's a story you'll never forget, and why has it stayed with you?

@Dani Rosenblad James a self-adjusting reality game, alternate universes and so many mysteries. I love the rabbitverse. it’s part of the inspiration for my novel.
🌙 What Are You Most Proud Of?
Let’s think of what makes you proud. 🥹 Not what you've completed. Not your word count. Not your productivity. You. What are YOU most proud of from this week? Maybe you: 🌿 kept going 🌿 got clearer 🌿 asked for help 🌿 faced something difficult 🌿 showed up when you didn't feel like it Take a moment and acknowledge it. What are you most proud of this week as a writer? ✍️

Making a collage with part of this poem by Em Claire that inspired me in book club this morning. I haven’t written a Substack article since April 10, and am focusing on my novel instead. Nice to drop something new though and show the lights are still on for my Substack audience.
