It will come out wobbly and a bit mad, and that is entirely the point. Nobody is good with their wrong hand, so there's nothing to be bad at today 💛 ✨ 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁? Do it again with your eyes closed as well, then compare the two. 👉 Also in the classroom here: ❤️ 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 👇 The whole page, a tiny piece of it, or just type "done" if you're not ready to show it ❤️ ❤️ All count. Whenever you get to it, morning, teatime or midnight.

@Mike VanLeuken this is beautiful! I love the shading and perspective and all that with the less dominant hand!

Here's a little look at what I'm working on in Photoshop today. These are just some of the parts: the little autumn birds, the berries and a few pretty pieces I've been playing with. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗟𝗢𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗔𝗚. If you haven't made one before, a loaded tag is a journal tag layered up with lovely bits like papers, clipart, ribbon and a little quote, so it's a mini piece of art you can tuck into your junk journal or sketchbook. I'm not showing you the whole thing yet... keep an eye out, it's coming very soon! 🐦 The finished loaded tag will be going into the Printables Vault for premium members. A morning you'd like. 😍 The mug on a quiet table, the window with nothing to rush off to, the dog at the end of the bed, the sea if that's what you're after. This week we're back to the life you want, which is where all this started 💛 ✨ 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁? That sounds like a lovely prompt, even if I do not have the morning I hope to...if I draw it it surely will be almost like living it!
Sunday watch: what's the point if no one sees it? 🎥
Happy Sunday lovely members ☕ I want to share a video with you today because I think what it says is so important, and I have a feeling it will land for a lot of us here. Has anyone ever asked you, "What's the point of making that if you're not selling it?" Or maybe nobody has said it out loud, but a quiet voice in your own head asks it when you sit back from a page. Or you feel guilty about spending time on your sketchbook? This video is for that voice. ▶️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗡𝗼 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝘀 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scGt-BJ97LA 📏 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸 She talks about something she calls "the value stick": the habit of holding everything we make up against a measuring stick. Does it make money? Is it useful to someone else? If not, it doesn't count. None of us picked that stick up on purpose. Most of us grew up in a world that measures worth by what we produce, so making something just for ourselves can come with a little pinch of guilt, even while we're enjoying it. 🧶 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗲 Knitting isn't valuable because it turns into a sweater. The sweater is the bonus. The value was already happening in the hours of making, stitch by stitch. It's the same with a sketchbook page. The page isn't where the value lives. It's evidence that something good already happened in you while you made it. 📓 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 This is my favorite part. Nobody thinks a friend who writes in a diary for half an hour a day is wasting their time, even though no one else ever reads it. We just understand that a diary helps you think. Sketchbook journaling does exactly the same job, only with color, lines and paper scraps instead of sentences. It's a private place to think in images, and over time it becomes a little time capsule of what you're drawn to. The one difference is that we never judge a diary entry as a finished piece of writing. So what if your sketchbook page didn't have to be a finished piece either? Just a rough draft of your day, your colors, your thoughts.

Leonardo and the cave painters
If you have done day 16's daily page ✨ Did you notice how many of today's scribbles turned into faces? Mine did too. So I did a bit of research into this, and it's really interesting. 😍 About 500 years ago, Leonardo da Vinci wrote in his notebook that 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗰𝗸, 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹. You'll find landscapes, battles, figures and "strange faces" in it. He said it was like hearing words in the jangle of bells. 🔔 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝘁𝗼𝗼. Researchers looking at two caves in northern Spain found that more than half of the animals were drawn around bumps, edges and cracks already in the rock. 😱 𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙨𝙖𝙬 𝙖 𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙡, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙤 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙩𝙤𝙤. Which is exactly what you did this morning with a pen and a scribble. 🖊️ So if it felt like cheating, it isn't. People have been finding pictures this way for tens of thousands of years. What turned up in yours, a face, an animal, something else? That's sooo interesting. We cam across an exhibition in Morocco where the artist had based her entire exhibition on the texture and colour of the local walls. It was beautiful!
