🐦‍⬛ Visible Friday #17: Socials Masterclass Snippet
I've been sitting here this week beaming like a proud mama hen. So many of you have started putting your face and voice out there in new ways, on camera, in your own words, and I just want to say I see it. It's not a small thing. So this week I'm gifting you a snippet from the Social Reels Masterclass. Eight minutes, deep dive, all about Your Profile, Your Platforms, Your Sound. Watch for free below and you can find the full course in the Classroom tab. I'm also dreaming into something bigger. A Vizzy D Video series where I challenge us all with different prompts and questions to speak to camera and share it in here first, encouraging each other across that vulnerable threshold together. Still shaping what this looks like, but I wanted to say it out loud before it's fully formed, because that's kind of the whole point isn't it... Would this be something you'd want to be part of? Curious what a prompt might look like for you, something silly, something serious, something that scares you a bit to say out loud. What is stopping you from putting your face and voice out there? What are the blocks? How can we help each other? Only love, Amy 🐦‍⬛

Kudos to everyone putting themselves out there on social media! When I'm posting something I try to let go of the "what will people think" mentality and just post the damn reel. Some people will resonate with it, others won't, but I always come back to my "north star" of why I am posting content–if it is serving people, if it is done with love, if this is information that will help reduce someone's suffering if they see it. xx
🐦‍⬛ Visible Friday #12: Why Visibility Feels Wrong In Death Care (And Why It Isn't)
This week I'm gifting you all a snippet from the Visibility Foundations Course because what we explore in this lesson seems to be coming up a lot at the moment. I'm keen to know how and where this lands in you... it's 5 mins, watch it & tell me... This is the video most practitioners tell me they needed years ago. Not the practical stuff. The permission. The naming of something that has been quietly operating in the background of every decision about pricing, posting and self-promotion since they began this work. Death care sits at the intersection of the sacred and the commercial. Historically it has belonged to community, to ritual, to religion, none of which operate on market logic. When you put a price on sitting with a dying person, or promote your grief facilitation services on social media, some part of you wonders whether something is being violated. Whether you are "cheapening" the thing you came here to do. Sacred, to me, isn't about religion or ritual done a certain way. It's about presence. It's the moment someone lets you see them at their most undefended, when the ordinary rules of composure and privacy fall away and what's left is just the truth of what they're going through. I learned that from my grandmother long before I had language for it, and I've spent years since trying to build spaces where people can arrive at that truth without shame. That's what I mean when I say sacred. Not separate from life. Woven right through it. That feeling is not weakness. It is not imposter syndrome. It is a structural reality of this field, and it deserves to be taken seriously rather than hustled past. This video takes it seriously. And then it offers a reframe that I hope will stay with you long after... Visibility in death care is not about commercialising the sacred. It is about making the sacred accessible. 🐦‍⬛ Visibility Prompt #12: Which of the beliefs in this video landed most strongly for you? Which one felt most like your own? You may even want to journal using these prompts to explore it further...

Social Media: Let’s all find each other out there 🐦‍⬛
Death care content can feel like shouting into the void sometimes - especially in the early days, especially on platforms that don’t always love what we talk about. So let’s make it a little less lonely… Drop your handles below - Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, wherever you’re showing up - and let’s go find each other. Follow, engage, share what moves you. This is how we build something together. 🐦‍⬛ I’ll go first: Insta - https://www.instagram.com/amyfirthministry TT - https://www.tiktok.com/@aussiedeathcarelady Facebook - www.facebook.com/amyfirthmusic The Visible Death Worker: https://www.instagram.com/visibledeathworker https://www.tiktok.com/@visibledeathworker Amy x

There's 100+ of us here already and I'm in awe of the brilliant death workers who are gathering. I'm keen for us to co-create this space into the most effective, supportive community possible - and I'm mindful that may mean it keeps evolving and changing, so for now - at this point - what feels helpful? You can only choose one - what's most helpful right now? x

Thank you, Amy! Everything is valuable knowledge here. I voted for the newsletter because I am really dragging my feet on it. I already have challenges finding the time to write for my blog, so I find thinking of content for a newsletter (although the two can piggyback off one another) can be daunting. But happy to follow along and digest any material you are offering.
🌻 Introduce Yourself...
It's so wonderful to see you all start to arrive - I feel like the excited/nervous party host who's spent way too long decorating and tidying... now it's time to exhale and receive the joy of you each arriving... :) Feel free to share a quick intro in the comments below... perhaps: where you're based, what you do & one main struggle you have with promoting your work/services... GO! x

Hello! My name is Sarah, and I’m an emerging end-of-life doula in Vancouver, BC. I owned a retail boutique for 13 years and recently did a mid-life pivot to work in the death care field. I am “doing all the things”: created a website, active on social media, designing workshops and proposing them to community centres and the like, and currently looking for the perfect venue to host a death cafe. I have been asked to be part of a grassroots community of death workers here in Vancouver who are building something really beautiful. I have yet to have my first bonafide client, but I trust it will come. I’ve joined your group in the hopes of being supported when I feel discouraged and wonder if this career path is viable… if I can truly make it happen. I so believe in this work and that it is needed in the world. Happy and grateful to be here! ❤️
