Do everything you can
Sometimes it feels like the world is falling on your head. Sometimes it is. When shit gets really tough I resort to a strategy called “all you have to do is everything you can”. It allows you to turn off the thoughts of fear of failure, it allows you to focus on moving forward rather than staying paralysed with anxiety. You find that there’s way more things you can do than you might have first thought once you commit to exhausting all the options. This has worked for me every single time I’ve used it Gonna do a big drive to fill this community up in a week or two. I appreciate yall being here 🫡

Lets fucking go
Hey all, We're gonna kick this thing into life. I'm holding a webinar at 5pm Friday 21st NZT (10pm Thursday 20 pacific) to gather the industry together and present a solution for canopy loss. Please go forward and spread the word, if you'd like to opt in to communications, send me your email address and I'll put you on the list. I'm going to use the webinar to drive traffic to this community, Apex Arborum will be the hub of an industry movement towards the tree presence model and will be a place of development and discussion of the Evergreen Token (Sempervirens). Please spread the word to everyone you know. Webinar link to follow. It is time to change, we simply cannot continue on this current course.

Welcome to the newcomers!
We’ve had a big influx of folks joining lately, and to you I say WELCOME. Apex Arborum is the flag to rally around for discussion on changing the industry. I have been working on a project called Sempervirens (aka Evergreen Token) for some time, there are resources in the tree presence model course folder in the classroom tab. I want to run a live call in a week or two to talk about it, standby as I build things out

@John Novak you’re a top bloke John Novak. Well grow this thing massive yet 🫡
Broken incentives are the enemy
You’re gonna hear me talk a lot about how the industry mainly sells removal. I want to make a point clear - pruning for reasons other than tree health (a rare case) is still removal. You’re just removing less of the tree. There are a lot of justifications for pruning, and I certainly won’t say all pruning is bad, but we have come to believe it’s good because we’re saving a tree from removal a lot of times. We can do better than damaging trees to save total removal if we build a new industry structure.

@Malte Enright dude, mega! This is evidence of recognition of people paying for tree services even if it is a government. I’ll put the document in the tree presence model folder, thank you for the input

@Oliver Bennett yep you got it exactly. I wonder what other kinds of content we could make to tickle the dopamine squirters
Welcome to the community
First things first: Go ahead and introduce yourself on the introductions part of the message boards, tell us where you're from and what part of the industry you're in. Our industry is on a path to self destruction. As long as we’re paid for the absence of trees instead of the presence of them, we’ll be trapped in a shrinking market, chasing short-term profit while killing the long-term future of our trade, and living environment. Apex Arborist exists to change that. This community is an incubator for a new way of thinking, one where arborists are builders of value, not just removers of risk and nuisance. We’re here to empower those growing businesses that expand canopy, grow influence, and reshape public perception. These are my ideas. They are not final, they’re just a foundation. Please contribute, push back, and improve them. Together, we can create an industry that actually deserves to exist. This is the first iteration of course content, so the subscription is launched at this discounted rate, as it gets built out and adds more value, it will go up in price. Bonus for you is you get to weigh in on what content needs to be made next. To keep the tree presence model content freely available, I will likely start a free community at the same time that this one goes behind a paywall. This is so Apex Arborist can become a paid space that adds value to people who want to push themselves, but the foundational ideas it is built on are freely available to all. A rising tide lifts all ships. Let us raise the tide before the ocean is gone. More trees, more arborist work to be done.

@John Novak I want to take things one step further - that we should get paid for not cutting at all. A complete reimagining of our industry

@Oliver Bennett definitely one of the positive parts of the industry - the question is how do we scale this sector so more people want that service? I believe it’s education of the public

I’m an arborist. I think the arboriculture industry is going in a dumb direction. I am changing that.
