Before Building an AI Automation, Ask These 3 Questions
Something I've been thinking about lately is how easy it is to jump straight into building an AI agent without fully understanding the business problem first. I think these three questions can save a lot of wasted time: 1. How is the task handled right now? Understand the existing process before suggesting a new one 2. What actually goes wrong? Is it missed leads, slow responses, repetitive work, or something else? Don't assume the problem 3. What happens when the automation fails? There should be a clear fallback so the business isn't left dealing with a bigger problem Not every workflow needs an AI agent. Sometimes a simple automation or even a small process changeis enough For those building automations for businesses, what's one question you always ask before starting a project?
AI agencies what's actually the hardest part of getting clients?
I have been exploring the AI services space lately, and one thing I'm curious about is how AI agency owners actually find clients Is it getting people to understand what AI can do? Finding businesses with real problems to solve? Building trust? Or simply getting people to reply to outreach? I'm building Bizlance, a marketplace connecting businesses with independent AI service providers, so I'm trying to understand these challenges from the people experiencing them firsthand Would love to hear from agency owners here what's been your biggest challenge when it comes to finding and converting clients?

@Joey Jade Piloton Yeah, that makes sense. When you're serving a highly specific niche, the pool of potential clients is already smaller. How did you usually identify the businesses that actually needed your solution rather than just being curious about AI?

@Malik Ahmed That's a really good point. Building the automation can be the easier part compared to finding the right problem and earning enough trust to solve it. I especially agree with focusing on measurable value instead of just listing AI services. Curious, what have you found works best for building that initial trust with a business owner?
Are We Solving Real Business Problems With AI or Just Finding Reasons to Use It?
I've been thinking about this while exploring the AI space. It's easy to get excited about AI agents, chatbots, and automation. But when we look at an actual business, the first question shouldn't be, “What can we automate?” It should be, “What's slowing this business down, and why?” Maybe it's missed leads, delayed follow-ups, repetitive admin work, or a booking process that creates unnecessary friction. And even when AI can help, the solution needs to fit the existing workflow, be reliable, and have a clear way for a human to step in when something goes wrong. I'm exploring these questions while building Bizlance, and I'm curious about other people's experiences. When you work with a business, how do you identify which problem is actually worth solving before recommending an AI solution?
Some Discussion
I've been thinking a lot about something while building in the AI space. There are so many AI tools and people offering AI services, but I wonder how easily small businesses can figure out which solution actually fits their problems. I'm exploring this through a project I'm building, and I'm trying to understand the problem before jumping straight into solutions. For those working with businesses, what's the biggest challenge you see when it comes to getting companies to actually adopt AI?

@Yonas Workayehu I completely agree with this. I think understanding the existing workflow before suggesting AI is what makes the difference. Sometimes a simple automation can solve the problem better than a complex AI agent. I'm exploring similar questions while building Bizlance, especially how businesses can find the right solution and trust that it will actually work in practice..Great insights
Welcome! Introduce yourself + share what you're building 👋
Welcome! It's great to have you here. Before you introduce yourself, let me tell you why this community exists. 📍 Our mission The world is about to split between people who can use AI and people who cannot. We exist to stop that gap becoming permanent. This community exists to put you in that second group. My team and I run Morningside AI, a 7-figure AI business working with everyone from local companies through to Fortune 500s. Along the way, we created the AI Automation Agency (AAA) model: the framework thousands of people now use to start and scale their own AI businesses. Everything we teach comes straight from the frontlines. Not theory. Not guru talk. What's actually working right now, handed over. And we've watched complete beginners in here go from "I know nothing about AI" to landing their first paying clients. That's the whole point of this place. You're next. With that out of the way, start here 👇 1. Introduce yourself below. Drop a comment with: - Where in the world you're from - What you're building toward (first client? career change? scaling an agency?) - One thing you're stuck on right now 2. Then head to the Classroom → Start Here. It takes 10 minutes, and you'll know exactly what to do first. While you're in the comments, read a few intros. If someone's story sounds like yours, tell them. Some of the best client work in this community started with two members saying hi. See you inside, Liam 💪🏽
