Day 5: Find Your Rhythm 🍞
You don’t need to learn every kind of bread. Today choose one that makes sense for your home right now. Maybe it’s sandwich bread for lunches, an artisan loaf to serve with soup, flatbread for dinner, or something sweet you’ve been wanting to make. Today’s video will help you think through the different kinds of bread and whether you’d like to begin with yeast or sourdough. If you’re unsure, that’s okay. You don’t have to arrive with every answer. Here’s what to do 1. Go to Classroom and open Make Room to Try. 2. Watch the Day 5 video. 3. Download the Day 5 Companion Worksheet. 4. Choose the bread you’d like to focus on and whether you’ll use yeast or sourdough. 5. Think about one practical next step and where it could fit in your week. Comment below: “The bread I’d like to make is___________ . I’m planning to use_______________ , and my next step is _______.” Or, if you’re undecided: “I’d like to make ______________ , but I need help figuring out _____________.”

@Terri Rosett I think we learn from the "learning snags." I look forward to hearing how it goes.

@Sandra Brenes Hi Sandra, Nothing happened yet. I will check the starter again tonight. Should I start again if there is still no change? Thank-you!
Day 4: Ready Is a Decision
You do not have to wait until you feel completely ready. What’s one small step you can decide to take today, without waiting to feel ready? Choose one small bread action that takes ten minutes or less, and do it. You might feed your starter, add flour to your grocery list, save a recipe, pull out a bowl, choose a day to learn, or ask a question. Comment with your decision. You do not need certainty before movement. You just need the next step. Your steps today... 1. Go to Classroom 2. Open Make Room To Try 3. Watch the Day 4 video 4. Download and complete the worksheet 5. Comment below with your choice.  You can comment: I decided I am going to ________________________.

I am going to finish getting together the items I need to make the sourdough starter. I finally have everything I need, and I chose my place and time. Thank-you for these helpful videos!
Make Room To Try Day 2: Release One “Have To”
Maybe you have been telling yourself you need more time, more tools, a cleaner kitchen, a calmer schedule, or more confidence before you can begin. Today, choose one expectation to release. You do not need everything figured out. You only need one workable next step. Your steps 1. Go to Classroom 2. Open Make Room To Try 3. Watch the Day 2 video 4. Download and complete the worksheet 5. Comment below with what you are releasing—or simply write Done If you want to share: I am releasing the idea that I need ________________ before I begin. If you already let go of an expectation, share what it was and how it is different than you expected.

I am releasing the idea that I won't be able to make the sourdough starter. I am going to have fun trying.
Welcome to Day 1: Choose Your Reason
Day 1: Why does bread matter to you? Before we begin, take a moment to think about why you want bread to be part of your home. Maybe it is warm bread with dinner. Maybe it is learning a skill. Maybe it is feeding your family in a meaningful way. Your reason does not have to be big—it just has to be yours. Your steps: 1. Go to Classroom 2. Open Make Room To Try 3. Watch the Day 1 video 4. Download and complete the worksheet 5. Comment below with your reason—or simply write "Done" Complete this sentence if you would like to share: "Making bread at home matters to me because ______________________ ."

Making bread at home matters to me because I want to have good sourdough bread since it is the only type of bread I can eat. I love the smell of fresh baked bread, and the tase!
Make Room to Try starts Monday 🍞
You came to The Bread & Butter Way because you want to make bread. Maybe you have flour in the pantry, a starter in the fridge, or recipes and videos saved for “someday.” But life gets full, the kitchen gets busy, and bread keeps getting pushed back. That is why we are doing "Make Room to Try" next week. From Monday, October 5, 2026 through Friday, October 9, 2026 I will share one small, practical invitation each day, right here inside this free community. This is not a full bread course. It is not a kitchen makeover. It is not five days of baking. You do not need a perfect kitchen, an active starter, special tools, extra money to spend, or a free afternoon. We are simply going to take the pressure off, make a little room for bread in real life, and take one small step at a time. Over the five days, you will make a little space for bread, gather what you already have, choose one clear path, and decide on a realistic next bread step. Because I am a firm believer that bread should fit your life, not take it over. If you are planning to join us, comment “I’m in” below as your little promise to yourself to come back here each day next week for one small bread step. I’ll be here cheering you on. Be sure to turn on your community notifications so you do not miss the daily invitation. Day 1 begins Monday, October 5. I’m so glad you are here. Sandra
