Hi 👋 I'm a local new Zealand artist that lives at almost the bottom of the world (southland). I mainly work with acrylic on canvas but dabble in other mediums. I prefer to create surrealism art that tells a story especially from personal experiences and trauma as a form of therapy. Also I love expressing myself with weird and wacky art (not the norm... especially where I'm from in invercargill). I also do a lot of realism and hyper realism portraits that I enjoy since I'm really good at faces due to my photographic memory! Just looking for anyone out there that uses surrealism art to tell their own personal stories and struggles as a way of therapy like myself. Also just generally like minded people within the Surrealism style of art and maybe to learn from my own practice aswell (vice versa) Ps: can someone please tell me how to become a full-time artist and have your work wanted and seen!!! I feel like I'm failing, at the one thing I wanna be in life! https://share.google/9KQdf3V3nW9lhi2Ds Also feel free to look at my work and your thoughts below !
@Midori Luck more my intention is to provoke a response whatever that response is. Its not really attention seeking in my opinion it's more for me a sort of therapy to express my own personal experiences though ideas around mental health or trauma. I myself am a confronting person and really like to provoke the discussion of why they don't like it and what they don't like about it to challenge the viewer and myself.
Let's get to know each other! Comment below sharing where you are in the world, a photo of your workspace, and something you like to do for fun, etc. anything that you are interested. Thank you
@Midori Luck absolutely and for me I don't think I could be anything else other than an artist and want to share my own truths within my art for the world to see and connect and possibly help someone through connecting emotional to the works.
