There are so many different directions a coaching session can take. Confidence, boundaries, goals, relationships, habits, self-discovery, stress, mindset, motivation, life balance… and probably another 100 things I haven't mentioned. One of the interesting things about coaching is that the same topic can lead you in different directions depending on the client. A client who wants to work on confidence might need to explore their strengths, challenge a belief about themselves, look at where their self-doubt comes from, notice how they talk to themselves or take a small action they've been avoiding. Someone who wants help with their goals might need to work out what they want, break a big goal down, explore what's getting in the way or decide what they're going to do next. So when you're deciding what to do in a session, it can help to start with: - What does my client need now? - Do they need to explore something or take action? - What's underneath what they're telling me? - Would a coaching tool help them explore this further? - Is there something they could continue working on between sessions? It can be useful to have plenty of ideas and resources to draw on when the conversation takes you somewhere you weren't expecting. 👇 What topic comes up most often with your coaching clients?
