What a morning!!
One of those amazing mornings where you come home on a huge high - multiple sightings of this magnificent Brown Goshawk, and a delightful Sacred Kingfisher who posed so beautifully for me. I would have loved a bit of action, but neither budged from their perches (until both flew away in the wrong direction for a shot), so I had to settle for a couple of classic portraits. Still very happy with that - especially the Goshawk, a notoriously difficult subject!

Oh wow! That's a really trick shot Jono 😄
Who else has wrens?
Awww I'm thinking wrens are all around the world in one form or another - are they? I know plenty of you are from Europe and beyond - what wrens (or similar small birds) do you have? The Superb Fairy-wren is pretty common on the East Coast of Australia ... this little guy is halfway into breeding plumage, so he looks a little patchy!

@Rob Lee not as many here as in my previous town, but they're still around. No Variegated ones though

@Björn Wollmann they are loud here too - for such a small bird...but so nice to hear their little chatter in the garden
Just for fun
Thought I'd enlist some help from a local. Turns out he has a good eye for birding.

Ordinary Birds
Those everyday birds that you see all the time. Maybe they're a little on the plain side - like the Grey Shrike Thrush. You walk past them hoping for something more exciting. These birds hold the key to great photography 😉 When you see a bird on repeat, you get to know them - and their habits and actions start becoming familiar. The places they land, how they move through the trees, how they look for food and the little puddle they like to bathe in. And then you enter into the magical realm for bird photographers - predicting behaviour! It makes it so much easier to get a next level shot when you have a pretty good idea of what's about to happen next. And you are ready and waiting for it 🤎 PS: I'm going to be sharing a bird photography tip every Monday, so look out for one next week too. Happy birding xx S

@Dan Dwiar I have been trying to crack a great shot of one and it's surprisingly tricky!! A nice little challenge for the next few months perhaps?
