Well. After wearing Platine Blanc for the last two days, I figured it'd be a good time to rock the OG (or at least 3/4 of it) It is definitely inspired by Torino 21with a few differences. First and most obvious is the quality. While the mint in Platine Blanc smells photorealistic to me, the citruses don't ( at least not in the opening) Don't get me wrong, they smell way better than the price point, but you can smell where the other $200 went. It also has basil and thyme notea that give it an extra green freshness. Torino 21 also last an hour or two longer and projects for almost 2 hours in my skin, where Platine Blanc stoos projecting after about 30 minutes. Hopefully in a few months it will last longer. If not, it's a great way to smell like 21 in the gym for a $40 bottle

So today, I picked up a bottle that has been shelved for right about 2 years. I know that with many middle eastern houses brand new fragrances need to sit for a few months after letting some air in the bottle before they round out and usually smell a bit less synthetic. It was pretty early into my colleting voyage and I really like the OG Asad, so I pre-ordered Zanzibar.it was definitely unique although somewhat reminiscent of Le Beau. Was kinda weird and jumbled. Synthetic and somehow creamy and screechy at the same time. I wore it twice and shelved it. 2 years and 100+ bottles later, I decided to try it while doing chores at home and wow does it smell exponentially better! The opening is so much smoother. That salty lavender, coconut, iris combo has melted wonderfully. Could it be maturation of the juice, my nose, or maybe a bit of both. Have any of you ever get back to a fragrance after a couple of years?

So after hearing this glazed over and over (also finding it for under $40), I picked up a bottle. I have to say, I really like the profile. It is pretty darn close to Torino 21 for a fraction of the price. Minty green mojito with tonic and currants in the mid and a musky, mossy ambergris dry down. I'm hoping the performance improves over time. Over the last 2 days, it's becoming a skin scent in about 30 minutes. Like very close to the skin. I had to reapply a couple of times yesterday and it's already fading today. If it's still warm in a month, I'll give it another full day. Otherwise, it will make an outstanding gym scent. Thought?

It's still pretty hot in Colorado, but today I got to cater a wedding up in the mountains where it was in the 70s and I really been wanting to wear this one again. Ani is a warm spicy vanilla with a fresh and somewhat punchy twist. Initially, you get a slightly green vanilla, with a nice pop from ginger, bergamot and tart black currants. It then starts to turn a bit more resinous thanks to the benzoin and ultimately the sandalwood gives it this creamy, lemon meringue pie kinda vibe in the deep dry down. Outstanding fragrance in my opinion. Looking forward to wearing this more this fall!! Do any of you have experience with this one?

I'll be totally honest here, my first impression of this sucked. It smelled like old dirty coins. Luckily I'm a Sauvage fan and a lady at the Dior counter got me to try it on skin. Well I'm sure glad I did. Extrait is pure genius. A redemption of you will after the Eau Forte debacle andFrancis Kurkdjian's best work since taking over as creative director from Demachy. This is a darker evelution of the Sauvage story. But it takes a different direction from previous flankers, with the addition of oud. None of that Middle Eastern stuff that you find in all those Lataffa's. I won't bore you with the Dior propaganda, but they did good here. It opens with the familiar dna, Calabrian bergamot, Provençal lavender & a touch of Ambroxan. Just so you know you're in Sauvage territory. But it's a more refined opening than before. Then the shift happens. That Vietnamese Oud hits centre stage. Its resinous rich & a touch smokey. But instead of screaming it's arrived it plays a supporting role wrapping the heart with an unexpected warmth. The dry-down is where it settles into its true form. A combination of Virginia cedar, Indonesian patchouli, and Madagascar vetiver add a dense, earthy, multi-layered woody base that anchors everything beautifully . The Ambroxan keeps that signature salty warmth alive throughout, but the oud and patchouli give it real gravity. Performance is massive easily 8+ hours and it leaves a rich, intimate trail. Kurkdjian hasn't just cranked up the volume; he's added depth and darkness while keeping the soul intact. This might turn out to be the best Sauvage in years.
