This El Niño is going to be a monster!
I predict that in the next 12 months, this El Niño will cause catastrophic weather in parts of the World, with enhanced flooding in some parts and devastating drought in others. There will be food shortages and prices will soar. Temperatures are now 10 degC above normal in the equatorial Eastern Pacific. The global climate will lurch into accelerated warming in 2027 from which there is no going back. It’s important we all know what will happen to us in the near future. This community will keep you informed. If you have any questions i’ll be glad to try to answer them for you. We are in completely uncharted territory now.

The predictions a BRUTAL. I noticed the Jetstream lowering across the United States bringing colder air into my New Jersey area. Will this make it worse?

Wow! Good to know. Thanks.
Finished adding the annual CET records
I’m glad to say i’ve finally finished adding the annual CET spreadsheets to the Classroom. They span from January 1st 1772 to December 31st 2025. It’s possible to see the average temperature on any day in that period. Have a look and see how brutal the winters were in the 1800’s. See how the summer temperatures now are on a different level to previous years. It’s a total eye-opener. https://www.skool.com/weather-skool-1097/classroom/1ef2f4e0

Looks like the fires are winning.
11 die in Spanish wildfire
At least 11 people have died in a wildfire in southern Spain, with early indications suggesting four of the victims are British, according to a local official 😥 Heatwaves across Europe have dried out vast areas of land and made them particularly vulnerable to wildfires. "The fire danger remains at very high or extreme levels in much of the country," Spain's meteorological agency says, urging people to "take extra precautions". In June, Spain reached its highest daily average since 1950, and had days where it recorded its highest ever temperatures for that month. Temperatures as high as 42C (107.6F) were forecast in some parts of the country. Climate change is driving up temperatures around the world, and Europe is the fastest warming continent, heating up twice as fast as the global average, according to the Copernicus climate service. This is causing increased summer heatwaves, greater pressure on Europe's water supply, and more intense wildfires. A wildfire in southern France has also forced thousands of people to evacuate as the country faces an early summer heatwave. The fires have also affected Spain where more than 2,200 hectares in the natural reserve of Les Gavarres in the north of the country have been destroyed. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cx2vz8lyql1t

I thought this only happened in the United States.

@David OHara I was not aware. I did not believe Europe was dry enough for wild fires to be a problem. Silky me.
