Your first client might pay you $500
I've seen beginners turn down $500 copywriting gigs. Because they're looking for the $3K - $4K month client. And while there's nothing wrong with aiming high… There's something most beginners completely miss. Your first client isn't always about the money. It's about getting the experience that'll make landing your NEXT client much easier. See… The guy willing to take that $500 gig might be making $5k/month before you even land your first client. Not because he's a better copywriter. But because he understands how to turn small opportunities into bigger ones. Let me give you an example. I recently interviewed a copywriter who spent TWO YEARS sending cold DMs and emails… With basically nothing to show for it. Then he changed his approach. 2 months later? He landed TWO clients in a single day. And eventually hit $10k/month. That's why in today's video, I'm breaking down exactly what I'd do if I had to start from zero again. Watch it below 👇 https://youtu.be/m22iJ6dsvzk Inside, I cover: - Where to find clients who are already hiring - Why some low-paying gigs can lead to much bigger opportunities - The small portfolio change that'll help you stand out from everyone using the same boring templates I also share what happened when I spent roughly an hour a day applying for creative strategy roles. Dozens of interviews. More than 6 clients. And a whole lot of rejections along the way. Because here's the thing… You don't need every business to say yes. You just need a few of the right ones. And sometimes, the smallest opportunities are what open the biggest doors. To your success, Tyson 4D P.S. Stop trying to make your first client your dream client. Sometimes the fastest way to land that $4k/month opportunity is to stop ignoring the $500 one.
The experience loophole
There's a stupid problem every beginner copywriter eventually runs into. You find a 3K – 4k/month opportunity. You read the requirements. And then… "Must have previous experience." Great. You need experience to get the client… But you need clients to get experience. So what are you supposed to do? Most beginners pick one of two terrible options. They either fake their experience and pray nobody asks a follow-up question… Or they proudly tell the truth: "I've never worked with anyone before, but I'm a really hard worker 🙂" Neither is a great strategy. There's a third option I've started calling "ethical LARPing." Terrible name. Very useful concept. Instead of waiting for someone to magically give you experience… You deliberately create real experience and proof before you ever land the big client. For example: Break down 100 real ads and document your thinking. Now instead of saying: "I have no experience." You can truthfully say: "I've analyzed 100+ DTC ads, and here's the document." That's just one way to do it. And in today's video, I'm breaking down the entire blueprint for going from zero experience… To enough proof to compete… To your first $4k/month opportunity. Watch it below 👇 https://youtu.be/Dc3c8MiMBCM Inside, I cover: How I'd build a portfolio from scratch Which opportunities I'd avoid completely How to manufacture real proof without faking experience The interview questions I'd prepare for before getting on a single call If you're waiting for someone to give you experience before you start… Stop waiting. Create it yourself. To your success, Tyson 4D P.S. You don't need to fake proof. And you definitely shouldn't sit around waiting for it. Manufacture real proof first. Then let it snowball.
2 clients in one day
For almost 2 years, Ethan was doing what copywriters were "supposed" to do. Cold emails. Instagram DMs. Messaging fitness coaches. And getting basically nowhere. Then he changed one thing. A little over 2 months later… He landed TWO creative strategy clients in a single day. By late August, he hit $7k/month. 2 weeks later? $10k/month. Oh yeah… He's 16. So I sat down with Ethan and had him break down exactly what changed. And not just the wins. We talked about the applications that went nowhere. The failed test projects. The interviews that ended in radio silence. And what finally started working. Watch the full interview below 👇 https://youtu.be/DcjElrRi31Y Inside, Ethan reveals: - Where both of his first clients actually came from - Why he stopped relying on cold outreach completely - How he stood out with ZERO creative strategy client results That last one is especially important. Because Ethan wasn't secretly sitting on 5 years of experience. He had the exact same problem most beginners have: "Why would they hire me when everyone else has more proof?" Turns out… His lack of experience wasn't the dealbreaker he thought it was. Something else mattered much more. To your success, Tyson 4D P.S. Ethan originally wanted to hit $10k/month before graduating. He got there at 16. Now the target moved again.
Nobody shows you this part
There's a weird problem with learning creative strategy online. Everyone tells you what to do. "Research the customer." "Find winning ads." "Come up with better angles." Cool. But then you open a blank creative brief… And think: "Okay... what do I actually put in here?" That's the part almost nobody shows you. Because knowing marketing principles is nice… But eventually, someone's going to hand you a brand and say: "Cool. Make us an ad." And you need to know exactly what to do next. That's why I made a full Creative Strategy 101 crash course where you can basically look over my shoulder while I do the actual work. Watch it below 👇 https://youtu.be/wKz7FiyNqdk Inside, I break down: - The 3 types of creatives you need to know - How to diagnose ads using actual performance data - How I build real video + static briefs with AI And I don't just explain the theory. I pull up briefs from an actual test project I recently completed… And show you the ad I started with, why I chose it, how I adapted the concept, and exactly what went inside the finished brief. So instead of watching another "strategy" video… You'll actually see how the work gets done. By the end, you'll know enough to stop studying creative strategy… And actually start doing it. To your success, Tyson 4D P.S. The goal isn't to memorize more marketing principles. It's to know exactly what to do when someone finally hands you a brand and says: "Make us an ad."
Your best copy might be losing
I've seen beautiful ads completely flop. Great script. Clean visuals. Smart copy. Everything looked like it should work. Then some ugly ad that looked like it was made in 10 minutes came along… And completely destroyed it. More clicks. More sales. More money. This used to confuse me when I first started copywriting. Because I thought the goal was to write the "best" copy. It isn't. Your job is to write the most effective copy. And there's a massive difference. See… Once you understand this, you stop obsessing over clever words… And start focusing on what actually moves numbers. Audience awareness. Research. Deep desires. What your customers already know. And what would actually surprise them enough to pay attention. Most importantly… How to turn all of that into an ad someone actually wants to watch. That's why I put basically 97% of what you need to know about copywriting, marketing, and creative strategy into today's video. Watch it below 👇 https://youtu.be/QPLH-5DNHXo Inside, I cover: - Why some "bad" ads outperform beautiful ones - How to find angles your market hasn't heard 900 times already - The frameworks I use to turn research into ads that actually sell And near the end… I pull up a real brand, research its customers, feed everything into AI, and build an entire ad brief from scratch. So you can see the whole process from start to finish. Research → idea → ad. No blank page. No praying ChatGPT gives you something decent. Just a system you can actually use. To your success, Tyson 4D P.S. Copywriting can take a few days to learn. Getting dangerously good takes much longer. This video will give you one hell of a head start.
