My Mum’s Final Days: Why I'll Keep Asking Questions ❤️
My dear Warriors, I’ve been wanting to share something deeply personal with you. As many of you know, my mum was the inspiration behind Cancer Warriors. Everything I’ve learned, researched and shared through this community began with my determination to help her fight cancer. Sadly, my beautiful mum passed away on 15 February 2026, following a 14-day admission at York Hospital. My brother and I stayed beside her throughout those 14 days, sleeping next to her bed at the hospital every night. My sisters and stepdad were also there every day, balancing work commitments and looking after our dogs while spending as much time as possible with Mum. We were all there for her, supporting her and each other through the most difficult days of our lives. Together, we witnessed her struggles, her moments of improvement and the difficult decisions being made about her care. During that admission, we became increasingly concerned about aspects of her treatment, monitoring and clinical reassessment. We asked questions. We requested further medical opinions. We challenged decisions when we believed her changing condition warranted reassessment. On 6 February, we invoked Martha’s Rule, an NHS patient-safety initiative that allows patients and families to request an urgent review when they are concerned that deterioration is not being adequately addressed. On 9 February, while my mum was still alive, our family formally escalated our concerns through PALS. We also submitted a written request for a review by a different clinical team. Unfortunately, my mum passed away six days later. We requested her medical records in March 2026, but we’re still awaiting disclosure. We’ve raised a formal NHS complaint, and the hospital has been undertaking a Structured Judgement Case Review. More recently, HM Coroner has begun preliminary enquiries into the circumstances surrounding her death and has requested a detailed chronology of events from us, together with the hospital’s review.

I’m so sorry. 🙏❤️
What’s Your Personality Type? 🤷🤷‍♀️
Hey Warriors, it would be interesting to share our personality types with the community! There’s a website called 16personalities.com (based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) where you can take a simple 5-10 minute test to discover your personality, and it’s completely free. I tried it myself and was really impressed with the results—it’s surprisingly accurate! I also learned a lot about myself in the process. And remember, there isn’t one personality that’s better - they’re simply different. Looking forward to seeing yours! 💬If you’ve done the test, please share your results in the comments...
