Post acquisition question
In a small, husband and wife operated business (electrical wholesale), what is considered a reasonable unpaid transition period for the sellers to stay on post close? I am thinking in terms of handover, introductions, and training rather and ongoing operations, particularly where time is also needed to recruit and onboard a replacement for the vendor. Curious what others have seen work well in practice in terms of duration, hours, and boundaries, and when it typically shifts from an unpaid transition to a paid advisory role.

@Dee Ludlow challenging to answer. I would say the Coach hire business is the closest as I am waiting for a reply from the brokers now. Also the business has been operating for 100years. The homeless accommodation business looks interesting however speaking to lenders it appears it is an occupied HMO listed as a business. Which means I will need to get HMO mortgage etc, I have no experience in that and I suspect it would be more challenging to raise funding etc. Happy to discuss further tomorrow. Is there any particular layout you would like us to present our deals?
