Hello!
Hi I’m Wanda and I love trying different art mediums, textile art and combining my love for textiles and collage. I try set time aside every day to play around or make something. I’m busy with a collage art journal for my dad for his 80th birthday. I will share as I go along. I am making the journal from scratch and busy gathering some paper and scraps. I have taken copies of my dad’s hand-written wine-making notes to use as the base for some of the pages. I also love cyano printing and botanical dying, so way too many ways to capture some good memories.

@Gita Platvoet hello, nice to meet you! My husband is Dutch, and I learnt to speak Dutch in the last 2 years! I love fabric and I save every small piece to use in a new project. We can practice together! Would love to see what you are working on! I have started on a tactile fabric book for my friend who has a little baby girl. She is visiting from the Netherlands during November. Her daughter will be 10 months old then, so the perfect time for her to use it. Will share some photos shortly.
Placemats
Just finished 6 fabric placemats that were patiently waiting for attention for many years. Front fabric from New Zealand and back - the african print and Shwe shwe cotton fabric from South Africa. A gift to family in NZ.

@Demeka Tigner thank you Demeka, love your reply. It also inspired me to finish my own 6 placemats, so NZ fabric all used up and we’ll be enjoying it in South Africa! I made mine also reversible, but one side has a little pocket for the cutlery.

Creative Besties, I have a question… What art supply are you saving for “something special”? 👀😂 You know the one. That gorgeous paper you don’t want to cut. The stickers that are too pretty to use. The fancy paint you’ve been saving. The beautiful journal you’re scared to mess up. That little something sitting in your stash waiting for the perfect project. Well, Creative Bestie… YOU are the special occasion. 💜 So for today’s Self-Care Sunday Creative Invitation, I want you to go into your creative stash and choose ONE GOOD THING you’ve been saving. And then… USE IT. 😂 Cut the paper. Peel the sticker. Open the paint. Make the first mark in the journal. You don’t even have to make a finished piece today. Spend 10 or 15 minutes enjoying the thing you bought because it brought you joy in the first place. Because sometimes self-care isn’t adding something else to your to-do list. Sometimes it’s simply allowing yourself to enjoy what you’ve been saving. And ain’t no Creative Police coming to tell you that you used the good paper wrong. 😂🎨 👇🏾 Tell me in the comments: What’s one “good” creative supply you’ve been saving? Bonus points if you actually use it today and come back to show us what you did with it. 👀💜 Happy Self-Care Sunday, Creative Besties. — Meka Now go use the good stuff. ✨

It reminds me of the good silver in the drawer… every day deserves the good silver. I am consciously trying to use more of my good stash of yarn, my good stash of paper and art supplies and my great stash of fabrics this year! It is difficult, but realised if I spend my time making a unique item, it might as well be with my best supplies!
