Hey everyone, I've built an AI phone receptionist for restaurants using Retell AI, n8n, Google Calendar, and Google Sheets. The agent can: - Answer incoming calls 24/7 - Check real-time table availability and manage reservations - Reschedule and cancel reservations - Automatically assign tables based on party size and availability - Suggest alternative time slots when tables aren't available The idea was to help restaurants save time, reduce interruptions, and avoid missing reservations. But now I'm questioning whether this is actually the right use case. I've started cold-calling restaurant owners, and I'm not sure whether the problem is painful enough for them to justify paying for an AI receptionist. I'm starting to think that simply saving time isn't necessarily enough. I'd rather build something that helps businesses generate more revenue, acquire more customers, or solve a problem with a clear financial impact. So my questions are: 1. Should I consider applying AI voice agents to a completely different use case or industry where they could deliver significantly more value? 2. How can I find opportunities where a voice agent directly contributes to revenue growth or customer acquisition, rather than just replacing repetitive tasks? 3. Would you continue validating the restaurant receptionist idea, or start exploring other applications before investing more time? I don't want to build AI agents just because the technology is cool. I want to solve a real business problem with measurable ROI. I'd appreciate any honest advice, especially from people who have successfully sold AI voice agents or automation services to businesses.
