Welcome to Autoimmune 411 Academy™ 🦋
I'm Alice — founder of Hashimoto's 411®, the largest autoimmune thyroid patient group in the world, since 2010. Along the way, I realized the same context and the same framework I kept explaining to Hashimoto's patients applied just as much to anyone navigating autoimmune disease — which is why I expanded into Autoimmune 411™, and why this space isn't just for thyroid patients anymore. I've been living with autoimmune disease myself for over 20 years, and I built this because I got tired of watching people get handed a diagnosis and basically nothing else. No context, no framework, no real explanation of what's actually happening in their body or what to do next. That's what this is for. A few things to know before you dive in: 📚 The Classroom is where the actual curriculum lives — Foundations is the place to start, everything else you can explore in whatever order makes sense for you. Nothing's locked. You go at your own pace. 💬 This Community feed is organized by category — you'll see topics like Supplements, Detox, and General Discussion when you go to post. Even the best Facebook group in the world runs into the same wall eventually: everything gets buried in one endless scroll, the same questions get asked weekly because nothing's ever actually organized, and there's no way to connect today's post to something useful three months ago. That's not a moderation problem, it's a structural one — the platform itself was never built for learning, only for talking. Categories exist here so this doesn't happen to us. Pick the one that fits before you post; it keeps conversations findable, for you and for everyone scrolling for the same answer six months from now. 🎯 Each category usually has a pinned post at the top pointing you to the relevant lesson before you ask your question — not because I don't want to hear from you, but because half the time the material answers it faster than I can, and then your question gets to be a better one. 🎥 Guest experts show up here periodically — practitioners, specialists, people who know things I don't. When one's coming, you'll see it announced, and you'll get the chance to submit your own questions ahead of time.
New things I’m curious about
Hi everyone, I’m starting to explore some new options for understanding and improving my Hashimoto’s. I am generally kinda lazy with going deeper as usually I feel pretty well, I’m fit and active and a good weight, and I often settle for “good enough” but I know it could be better. I have significant gut health work to do, I could really work more with diet, and my thyroid hormone numbers are not optimised on T4-only medication. Plus optimising nutrient levels, iron, cortisol, etc etc…! But for now, there are three main things I’m curious about and would like to get into (others to come later!). The first is the usefulness of measuring resting metabolic rate. I found somewhere that could do this here in Portugal. I was thinking that even if I do have my thyroid numbers, the Free T3 is still not reflecting what is actually getting into the cells and how it is all working metabolically. Thoughts? The second is that a GI-MAP has shown I have a Blastocystis hominis infection and I know I have had this for at least 18 years. I tried triple anti-biotics way back. Now I’ve done herbal tinctures with a strong wormwood component over much of a year and also a couple of months of S. boulardii and was about to do more of that. An approach to change the terrain rather than try attack and kill of the parasite. I also have D. fragilis, or I did one year ago. I’d like to know more about natural treatments for these parasites and people’s experiences. The third thing that I’m considering is keto diet flexing. I’ve never done keto before and my diet experiments have only been some elimination diet protocols to settle on a paleo-based non-processed food diet. I’ve never done AIP. I live simply off-grid in a camper in rural Portugal and it’s always felt too challenging. So I’m interested in input and experiences. Thank you!
Why Autoimmune Academy Exists (and Why You Belong Here)
There are plenty of autoimmune courses, webinars, and “expert” masterclasses out there. So what makes Autoimmune 411 Academy different? 👉 You. You—the fighters, the researchers, the relentless seekers of answers. You are the reason this Academy exists. I’ve spent over 20 years in the trenches with you. In 2010, I founded Hashimoto’s 411, a patient advocacy group that’s now over 130,000 strong worldwide. I’ve heard more patient stories than most doctors will hear in a lifetime—and that lived experience shapes everything inside this course. That said let’s be clear about one thing: ✋ I’m not a doctor, and I don’t give medical advice. 🧠 What I offer is something different—patient wisdom at scale. This isn’t about theory. This is about what actually works in the real world—what helps, what harms, what gets overlooked. Autoimmune Academy was built to reflect the patterns I’ve seen, the breakthroughs I’ve lived, and the frustrations I know all too well. 🧭 Why Autoimmune Academy? If you’ve ever tried to piece together your healing from scattered Facebook posts, forums, contradictory blog articles, and one-too-many YouTube videos, you already know the truth: 🌀 It’s overwhelming. 🧩 It’s confusing. ❌ And it’s rarely presented in the order that actually makes sense. That’s what Autoimmune Academy is here to fix. This is your structured, step-by-step guide to understanding why your body is acting the way it is—and what to do about it in the right sequence, without wasting money or time chasing the wrong solutions. When I was first diagnosed, I would’ve given anything for something like this. A roadmap. A filter. A translator of all the noise. Now, I’ve created it—for you. 🌱 One Disease, Many Faces — Same Root Causes Whether you’re dealing with Hashimoto’s, Lupus, MS, RA, Sjögren’s, or another autoimmune condition, here’s the truth no one tells you: 🎯 The diseases may look different, but the underlying drivers are shockingly similar. The root causes include: - 🚨 Gut dysfunction - 🧪 Toxic burden - 🧂 Nutrient deficiencies - 😰 Chronic stress - 🦠 Hidden infections - 🔄 Immune system confusion

New Member Welcome 💜
We’ve got some new faces here, and I’d love for everyone to give a quick hello and tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? What autoimmune condition or conditions are you navigating? Are you newly diagnosed, or have you been living with autoimmune disease for years? Are you just starting to understand the autoimmune side of your health, or have you already been deep in the research for a while? What feels most confusing or frustrating for you right now? And what are you hoping to better understand while you’re here? I’m also in the process of finalizing the full Autoimmune 411 Academy curriculum. After more than 20 years in patient communities, I have a pretty strong sense of where people tend to get stuck, what gets overlooked, and what matters at different points in the autoimmune journey. That said, if there’s something you’d especially like to see included, or something you think would make the Academy even more useful, feel free to share it. I’m always open to hearing what stands out to you. In the meantime, the Autoimmune 411 AI course will give you a strong foundation. Even beyond learning how to use the AI tools themselves, the explanations throughout the course are designed to help you better understand the things that matter when you’re navigating autoimmune disease — your history, symptoms, labs, patterns, questions, and overall context — so you can become a more informed and confident advocate for your own health.
