Dear friends of the Hive, For thirty-five years I have watched what happens when children make things with their own hands. They slow down. They notice. They begin to trust their own ideas. So I have started something new: The Young Bookmakers Society. Once a month, a real envelope arrives through the letterbox, addressed to your young person. Inside is a beautifully printed Bookmakers Folio with a drawing lesson, a writing prompt, a new way to make a book by hand, and a small treasure. By the end of the year, they will have made a book of their own. It is for curious creators aged 10 and up: children who love paper, stories, maps, creatures and secret books. The first letter goes out on 1 December. I am opening just six Founding places. Founding Bookmakers keep their price for as long as they stay, and their names will be printed in the Founding Register in January.
