Ice Breaker Saturday
What’s your favorite color? Next step…what real whole food do you like in that color and how do you prepare it for your family? My favorite color is orange and I can look at this in several ways for oranges how about a mild white fish baked with orange rings on tit or maybe it’s maple glazed carrots and my favorite pick an orange color cheese and put it on a hamburger!

One brave bite
Have you thought about what does one brave bite mean? If your child has not tried a food before and is afraid to take that bite just have them smell it the first time and maybe take a lick of it to get that smell and initial taste…soon to come modules in the classroom will explain further.

It’s grocery day and the fridge is empty snack
Anyone else? It’s grocery shopping, day, the fridge looks like a crime scene, and three kids are asking for a snack like I have a fully stocked pantry waiting for them. Here’s what I found today: half a bottle of ranch, a carrot that’s seen better days, a few stalks of celery, and a handful of crackers hanging on in the bottom of the box. That’s it. That’s the snack.. So here’s what I did. Crackers on a plate, a little shredded cheese melted on top so it feels like something instead of just crumbs, carrots and celery cut up for dipping, and the ranch front and center because let’s be honest, kids love ranch the way they love ketchup. It goes on everything and somehow makes vegetables disappear off the plate without a fight. Is this the ideal, from-scratch, nutrient-packed snack I usually talk about here? No. And I want to be honest about that instead of pretending otherwise. But it’s real food, it’s not out of a bag of chips and a can of soda, and it got my kids fed and happy until I could get to the store. If you want to upgrade this in 30 seconds next time: swap the bottled ranch for plain yogurt mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of dill. Tastes almost the same, way less junk in it, and you probably already have the yogurt. This is the stuff nobody shows you on Pinterest. The empty fridge, the scrounged plate, the good enough snack before grocery shopping.. If this is your day too, you’re not doing it wrong. You’re doing it real.
