👋 Welcome to Calm Under Attack™ Lab
You may notice things look a little different around here.
I've been doing a lot of work on Calm Under Attack™ and the Operational Survival System™, including working through some real businesses and asking a pretty basic question:
What absolutely has to keep working when critical technology doesn't?
That work has also made me rethink who might use this methodology.
There are a lot of experienced IT, cybersecurity, business continuity, risk, and resilience people who have spent years dealing with outages, incidents, recovery, dependencies, workarounds, and the occasional spectacular mess. 😄
That's who I want more of in this room.
I'm going to use this group as a working lab. I'll bring in real cases, questions, tools I'm developing, and pieces of the methodology.
I want you to poke holes in them.
Tell me what would work. Tell me what wouldn't. Tell me what I'm missing. And especially tell me when your experience says, “Yeah...that's not how that shit actually goes.”
I'm also testing another idea: whether Operational Survival could become a specialized service that experienced practitioners deliver to organizations.
I don't know the answer yet. That's part of what I want to find out.
So I'll start with this:
You've spent years learning what you know now. Have you ever thought about turning some of that experience into something you own?
Maybe something you use in your current job. Maybe a consulting service. Maybe part of an existing practice. Maybe something you build for retirement or a second career.
Or maybe that idea doesn't interest you at all.
I'm curious. What would you do with it?
