Knee joint replacement
In 2021 I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my left knee. At age 53 the advice was, keep training to sustain muscle mass and thereby support the knee as much as possible. Further advice was not to operate. A large portion of the cartilage was already gone by then and no magic supplement was going to bring it back. It was all about buying time.
Fast forward, the recent diagnoses shows all cartilage on the inner part of the knee is gone. That was to be expected. Slowly over the years I started limping more, difficulty getting up the stairs, having frequent lower back issues and for the past 3 months daily interrupted sleep because of pain.
The orthopedic surgeon gave me two options, cortisone injections or a knee joint replacement which he doesn’t favor because at 58 I’m still in the “young” category.
Since cortisone injections are not a sustainable long term solution I’m considering a replacement. I’m pretty much done with the pain and limp. My question is, what is a good strategy to prepare my body for surgery (before and after) to enhance the recovery process, using peptides (or other) and localized red light therapy?
Any input from the community is highly appreciated.
