With all the talk about AI replacing freelancers, here’s something interesting… Recent research from Upwork found that businesses are increasingly hiring freelancers to fix, refine, and finish work that was originally created by AI. And that’s not the only shift happening. Upwork’s 2026 data shows that freelancers doing AI-related work are earning 34% more per hour on average than freelancers who aren’t incorporating AI into their work. But there’s a catch… 👀 Simply using AI to generate basic content isn’t necessarily where the money is. The higher-value opportunities are increasingly going to people who can combine AI with real skills, experience, judgment, and problem-solving to produce something businesses can actually use. 💡 What does this mean for freelancers? You don’t necessarily need to compete against AI. Learning how to use AI alongside the skills you already have—whether that’s virtual assistance, graphic design, marketing, writing, research, customer service, or something else—could actually make your services more valuable. And interestingly, traditional freelance skills haven’t disappeared either. Upwork still lists areas like virtual assistance and graphic design among its most-hired skills in 2026. So if you’ve been thinking: “Is it even worth learning a freelance skill anymore because AI can do everything?” The answer may be less about AI vs. humans and more about learning how to make AI + your skills work together. 💻🧠 What do you think? Has AI helped you with your work so far, or do you think it’s making freelancing harder?
