I just read the Backlist Bundle... HOLY COW!!!🤯
Before I pivoted to writing and found BookNova, I had an SEO agency that catered to bloggers... until AI blew that up. A couple of my blogger friends and I started a marketing SaaS that is now my day job until the merger from us getting acquired is completed... estimating 12-18 months then I can go at this full-time. BUT the Backlist Bundle... totally connected the dots in my head between the SEO activities my agency did for bloggers with the fact that Amazon is a search engine. It was right in front of my face this whole time. Complete game-changer for how I'm approaching this now! @Zigmars Berzins what a great way to explain the data + emotion approach Meanwhile, I'm still publishing my first cozy mystery series and use it as my learning curve but my expectations are recalibrated.
I’m in shock. An author who brutally steals.
In all of BookNova’s history I have never seen anything this shameless. A customer bought a Lifetime plan. A few days later she bought top-up credits. She generated several books, and today she asked for every cent back. I refunded her. Both purchases, including the top-up credits, which are clearly non-refundable. I made an exception. Then I looked at her account. The books were generated. The books were downloaded. And a few minutes later I found them on her author Instagram: the covers, the character art, a whole series, a reading itinerary, a reader list sign-up. All presented as her own work, ready to sell. Books she paid nothing for. I want to be fair, because most refunds look nothing like this. Usually an author tries BookNova, it isn’t the right fit, they’ve used a few thousand credits, they ask for a refund and move on. The books go nowhere. That’s completely fine. Not every tool suits every writer, and I’ll always refund those people without a second thought. This is different. Generating a series, taking the money back, and publishing the books anyway. I can’t call that anything other than theft. So let me make it explicit for everyone: a refund means you give the books back too. If you get your money back, you don’t keep and publish what you generated with it. When I see this again, the account is closed and the person is banned from BookNova for life. To everyone here who uses BookNova honestly: thank you. This post isn’t about you. Zigmars

Writing a collection of stories
Hello friends! I would like to write a book in the format of a collection of individual stories, but all of them are connected through one main character. In principle, I planned 11 chapters: the first one with the story of the main character, and the other 10, with romance stories of this guy with different women (different cities, characteristics, jobs, etc.). I started in the sail mode and added the characters. The issue is that BN allows only 8 characters per book. This is completely understandable for a book where all the characters are in the same story, but not for a collection. Which do you think could be the best approach? I thought about writing it in two steps, but I really don't know if, for the second part, all the main character characteristics will be kept. Thanks in advance.
Author Voice
Is there a way to name the books that I used as my voices? I've got 6 seperate ones for genre, undertones, POV etc, and it'd be useful if I could name them.
New: an "Also by this author" page, with your covers
One of you asked for a page that lists your other books, the way printed novels do. It's live now. Where to find it: open your book, go to the Format step and scroll to "Pages around your story". The last card there is "Also by this author". How it works: 1. Click "Choose from my books". A window opens with all your books and their covers, grouped by series. 2. Tick the ones you want and click "Use these books". 3. Put them in the order you like with the arrows. You can also change the title that prints under each cover, so a working title like "Book 5 V3" never ends up in print. 4. Choose where the page goes: "Front of book" (right after the copyright page) or "Back of book" (after About the Author). What you get: a page with your covers in rows of three, each with its title underneath. The PDF prints the covers in black and white, because that's how book interiors are printed. The EPUB and the Word file keep them in colour. A few details worth knowing: - A book that has no cover of its own yet prints as a line of text instead of a picture. - Books you published elsewhere go in the box "Books that are not in BookNova", one title per line. - The page heading is "Also by [your name]" unless you type your own. - On your next book, one click on "Use the list from my last book" copies the whole list and adds the previous book to it. - After you change the list, generate your PDF or EPUB again to see the page. While I was there, I also tidied up that part of the Format step. Dedication, Acknowledgments and About the Author are now clean cards that show what each page is and where it prints, and the author portrait sits right next to the biography. Try it on a book with a sequel and tell me how the page looks in your export.
