I’ve always struggled with this (it’s held me back as a singer all my life 😅), and I recently learned that non-diaphragmatic breathing can play a role in my chronic cervicogenic headaches due to breathing improperly resulting in my head moving forward slightly (the cause of the issue) so I’m trying to learn.
My current issue is that when I breathe in while sitting in a wall-sit position (hips to head against wall), there seems to be a lot of stretching sensation around my shoulders, especially around my collarbones. While my shoulders aren’t moving, the tension makes me think that they want to, which leads me to believe I may not be doing it correctly since I was always told that if your shoulders raise when you breathe, it’s not from the diaphragm, but it could also just be a result of my tight shoulder and neck muscles (a result of my condition).
Please let me know if I can provide any more info, and thanks in advance!
