Well I’m in Vancouver, BC this week for the Chris Stapleton concert and to do an in-person training for a real estate office here as well. Have you ever sat at your desk, staring at your laptop screen wondering where your next deal is going to come from? I know I have, I was there a few times throughout my almost 20 year career. But you know what always got me through? My willingness to do whatever it was going to take to make sure I got that next deal. Nothing was going to stop me from putting food on the table. Put the blinders on and get to work. But...why did it have to come to that? Why did I (and you) have to wait for our backs to be up against the wall before we would do whatever it took to be successful? What if we had that mindset when times were good? What if we could get rid of complacency? I have a client that is seeing success in her business for the first time in a long time, she is on track to crush her production from last year. I told her complacency is a business killer. She was already starting to feel it... 1. Going into the office a little later 2. Taking a little longer to reply to texts and emails 3. Thinking more about the next vacation than following up with that new lead that just came in So, what did we do? We altered her goals. Then we looked again at the pipeline and saw that maybe that goal was a little to comfortable. We scrapped the new goal completely and made a new one that made her feel very, very, uncomfortable. "I don't know how I'm supposed to hit this" "Where am I going to get the leads to hit this goal" Doubt started to creep in. Then I said one thing that altered her mindset...something that James Clear says... "You do not rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems" Your dreams and goals give you direction, it is the daily habits (systems) that get you there.
