WELCOME TO THE CLUBHOUSE
This is where the Fairways Optional chaos begins. I’ve dropped a quick intro video to get things started. At the end, I ask some quick questions - so jump in below and let us know: Name: Where you’re from: Where you play: What you’re working on: Your golf goal: Bonus question: What’s your most Donny moment? A Donny moment is any shot, decision or disaster that seemed like a good idea for about three seconds. I’ll go first in the comments. Welcome in. Golf’s hard. Let’s suck less together.

⛳ Fairways Optional is taking a little break
Firstly, a massive thank you to everyone who joined the community, got involved in the challenges, commented, posted or just followed along. I really appreciate everyone who gave Fairways Optional a crack. I’ve made the decision to take a break from the Skool community for now. The main reason is simply time. I’ve found it difficult to consistently meet the deadlines I set myself for new content and challenges, and the engagement in the community hasn’t quite been as high as I’d hoped. On top of that, I’m heading into a very hectic end of the year, and rather than keep the community running without being able to give it the time and energy it deserves, I think taking a break is the right call. For now, I’m going to put that extra time into growing the Fairways Optional YouTube channel and continuing to make golf content over there — so make sure you’re subscribed! 🎥⛳ This definitely isn’t goodbye. I’d love to bring the community back at a later date when I’m in a better position to give it a proper crack. Thanks again to everyone who has been part of it. If you have any questions or just want to keep in touch, feel free to message me through the Fairways Optional socials. See you on YouTube — and remember, fairways are optional. 🤝⛳
New course same mistakes.
Played Waratah yesterday for the first time great course but had been cored over the weekend so the final score is not really my fault am I right??? The good - course management, played to my strong clubs and left my self plenty of room. Honourable mention to a dod on 8 that hit the green after the tee shot came out lower than lil jon The bad - club choice around the green, to lazy to walk back to my bag for another club and payed the price a few times. The Donny - expecting to putt well on cored greens, lead to bit of head noise after a few bouncy missed putts. Should have just put it on the shelf and focused on the good. All in all had a great time with another random group, shout out to Frank the tank who was a fellow dod enthusiast.
New course same mistakes.
🏌️ NO MORE BLOW UPS: EPISODE 5: PLAY TO YOUR NUMBERS
We’ve all heard it: get the ball as close to the green as possible. And generally, the data agrees — closer is better. But that doesn’t mean automatically pulling the club that goes the furthest. The real question is: How much do I gain by getting closer — and how much extra risk am I taking to get there? In this episode, we look at when pushing further up makes sense, when laying back to a comfortable number can be smarter, and why you should be thinking about the shot you’re leaving yourself next. And, as always, Donny the Hacker provides the evidence for what can happen when you get it wrong. 😂 👇 What’s your go-to number with a wedge in your hand — 100m, 80m, 60m or something else?
