Wisdom 365: Day 10 - Prov. 10
TODAY’S WISDOM
What are your words and actions producing?
TRANSFORMATIONAL OVERVIEW
Proverbs 10 begins a collection of Solomon’s proverbs that contrasts the way of the righteous with the way of the wicked. This chapter explores the everyday choices that reveal our character: how we speak, work, treat others, handle correction, and pursue what matters.
Theologically, Proverbs 10 reminds us that wisdom is not simply something we know; it is something we demonstrate. Our choices produce consequences, and the patterns we establish over time shape the direction of our lives.
Think of your life as a garden. Your words, habits, decisions, and relationships are seeds. Some seeds produce peace, trust, and stability. Others produce conflict, broken relationships, and unnecessary trouble. We cannot continually plant one kind of seed and expect a completely different harvest.
The question is not simply whether you want a better harvest. The question is what you are planting today.
READ
Read Proverbs 10 and pay attention to the contrasts between wisdom and foolishness, diligence and laziness, truthful speech and destructive words.
REFLECT
Ask yourself: What kind of harvest is my life producing right now?
Consider your words. Do they build people up, bring clarity, and encourage peace, or do they create confusion, hurt, and unnecessary conflict?
Consider your habits. Are you consistently doing the things that support the future you say you want, or are your daily choices working against your goals?
Also consider Proverbs 10:12, which contrasts hatred that stirs up conflict with love that covers offenses. Wisdom does not mean ignoring wrongdoing; it means refusing to let every offense become an opportunity for more conflict.
RESPOND
Choose one seed of wisdom to plant today.
Speak encouragement instead of criticism. Complete a responsibility you have been avoiding. Tell the truth when dishonesty would be easier. Extend grace without abandoning healthy boundaries.
Complete this sentence:
“Today, I will plant seeds of wisdom by __________.”
KEY TAKEAWAY
Your life is a garden. Your words, habits, and decisions are seeds. Pay attention to what you are planting, because your daily choices help shape the harvest you will eventually reap.
