Share your Wins!
Welcome everyone...I'm grateful you're part of this space! Most of the time, we talk about what's hard — the tension, the silence, the things we're working to change. And that's real, and it matters. But growth isn't only found in the struggle. It's also found in the small wins along the way — the moment you spoke up and it actually landed, the boundary you held without guilt, the conversation you'd been avoiding that finally happened. So today, let's hear the good stuff. What's something that's actually working for you right now? Maybe it's a shift in how you're showing up at home. Maybe it's a conversation with a coworker that went differently than it used to. Maybe it's just a moment where you caught yourself responding instead of reacting. Big or small, it counts. Share it below — because someone else in this community needs to hear that it's possible. What you hold in your mind, you can hold in your hand. Let's celebrate what's growing!
Some of the Best Advice...
Building and maintaining relationships, especially healthy ones, can be challenging at times. When we hit a wall, fall into a rut, or disconnect with others on some level, we often seek support and advice from trusted people or resources in our lives, or seek solitude to go within and search for clarity. I learned that it is beneficial to look below the surface, past the obvious, or read between the lines. When someone says, "You never listen to me.", it may not be that you 'never listen', it could mean "I need to be heard right now." or "I'm hurting." When someone says, "You always chose what we do.", it could mean "I'd like to contribute and share my perspective too." or "Let's work together on this." We all are familiar with trees. Trees produces leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds that other living beings can enjoy. And the health of the tree determines the quality of what it produces. Humans are like trees, we produce too. Other than more humans, we produce families, communities, businesses, books, movies, art, tools, ideas, etc. The health of the human determines the quality of what is produced. All trees have roots, and so do humans. Human roots are called "needs". Tree roots are below the surface; human needs are below the surface. The tree cannot survive without its roots; humans cannot survive without their needs. They are needs, not options. The roots of the tree are grounded in the soil absorbing the nutrients that the tree feeds on. Our needs are rooted in our heart absorbing the attention (energy) from others around us, our soil. If our needs are not fed and nourished, we will not live and produce in healthy ways. If we feed our physical body junk food, we will not be healthy. If we feed our emotional body toxic vibes, we will not be healthy. Through research, experience and observation, I've come to the perspective that our biggest and deepest needs as human beings, the foundation of all other needs, is to be seen, heard and valued.
A Tool
Hey there Community! When I saw this Relationship Spectrum, it helped me gain clarity about some past and current relationships in my life. A simple tool used to measure and categorize the outcomes of our interactions. What do you think?
A Tool
Needs are Necessary
Here's something you can use today... Next time you're frustrated with someone, try this before you react: Instead of saying what's wrong with them, name what you need. "You never listen to me" becomes "I need to feel heard right now, can we slow down?" "You always make it about you" becomes "I need this conversation to be about both of us." The complaint puts them on defense. The need invites them in. Try it in your next conversation — even a small one. What happened when you said the need instead of the complaint?
