✨ Ingredient Spotlight: KPV — The Tiny Peptide Inside Glow Eyes Luxe
One of the ingredients I’m most excited about in Glow Eyes Luxe is topical KPV. But what exactly is KPV — and why are researchers so interested in it? 🔬 KPV is a very small peptide KPV stands for Lysine–Proline–Valine. It is a tripeptide, meaning it contains only three amino acids, and it is a fragment related to α-MSH. KPV has been studied for its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory activity, including research involving inflammatory signaling pathways such as NF-κB. That makes it especially interesting to researchers studying inflammation and the skin. 🧬 Now let’s talk about the “500 Dalton Rule” Your skin is designed to be a barrier. It doesn’t simply allow everything we put on it to pass through. One concept commonly discussed in topical formulation is the 500 Dalton Rule. A Dalton is simply a measurement of molecular mass. As a general rule of thumb, molecules under approximately 500 Daltons are considered more favorable candidates for penetrating the skin barrier than larger molecules. And here’s where KPV gets interesting: ✨ KPV is only about 341 Daltons. ✨ Being under 500 Daltons does NOT automatically mean that an ingredient will penetrate the skin — molecular weight is only one piece of the puzzle. Formulation, charge, solubility and the condition of the skin barrier matter too. But KPV’s remarkably small molecular size is one of the reasons it is such an intriguing peptide for topical research. 💗 Why did we put it in Glow Eyes Luxe? The delicate skin around our eyes can be one of the first places where dryness, irritation and the visible effects associated with inflammation show up.
