Parent Volunteers
Does anyone else struggle with getting parent volunteers for team meals and events? It always seems to be the same parents, including me, who step up to help. Any suggestions on how to get others involved so the whole season isn't on us?

What would you recommend I focus on most as a receiver/DB?
This was asked by one of our community members who is playing flag football: I wanted to share: My season starts soon, so I’m trying to get as much practice in as I can before then. What would you recommend I focus on most as a receiver/DB? Hi Sophie, since you’re playing both receiver and DB, I’d really focus on footwork, change of direction, and catching/ball skills. As a receiver, work on: Getting off the line quickly and creating separation Sharp cuts and change-of-direction — don’t round your routes Catching the ball with your hands, not your body Tracking the ball over your shoulder and catching it at different angles Learning to sell your route: make the DB believe you’re going one way before you break the other As a DB, your biggest focus should be: Quick feet and staying balanced Backpedaling and transitioning quickly into a sprint Watching the receiver’s hips instead of their head or eyes Knowing when to stay with your player and when to break on the flag Most importantly, anticipation and reaction time And because it’s flag football, don’t forget that flag pulling is a skill too! Practice approaching under control, breaking down, and getting the flag without overrunning the play. If you have some time before your season starts, I’d rather see you practice these fundamentals really well than just run a bunch of plays. Good footwork + good hands + good football IQ will make you stand out.
