Hey crew, let's make this fun. 🎁
We're trying something new: if you help someone find their way to FHT, you're now in the running to win something real. Here's how it works. Every new member who joins through your personal referral link gets you one entry into a drawing. Bring in three people, you've got three entries. It's genuinely that simple. How to find your link: 👉 Go to your profile (top right of the screen) 👉 Click "Affiliate" 👉 Copy your personal link and share it anywhere, text, Facebook, wherever makes sense for you The prize: a $50 gift card, picked at random from everyone with at least one entry. The deadline: entries close end of day, Monday, August 31. I'll draw a winner shortly after and post it here. One fun rule: if you win, you've gotta send me a picture of yourself holding the gift card to stay eligible for the next one. Purely because I want proof this is real, and honestly it'll be fun to see. That's it. Share your link, help someone find their way here, and you're in. — Michael

I almost didn't build this.
I've been a travel guy my whole life. Planned trips, researched destinations, talked people into going places they never thought they'd see. And for years I watched the same thing happen over and over. Someone would say "I've always wanted to go to Norway" or "I'd love to do an Antarctica cruise someday" and then... nothing. The idea would just sit there. Not because they didn't want to go. Because the logistics felt impossible and going alone felt worse. I got tired of watching people talk themselves out of experiences they deserved to have. So I built this. Just Show Up Cruises exists for one reason ... to remove every single thing standing between you and the trip you've been putting off. - Roommate matching so you're not paying solo supplements or eating alone at a table for one. - Full logistics handled so you're not piecing together transfers and hotels and embarkation details at midnight. - A hosted group so you land knowing someone. You literally just show up. We're just getting started and I'm building this with the founding members who get here first. That means you help shape what this becomes - the destinations - the sailing style - the community feel. If expedition cruises have been on your list and solo travel logistics have been the reason you haven't gone, you're in the right place. Drop a comment and tell me where you've been wanting to go. — Michael

📍 New Discussion Categories — Here's Where to Post
We just built out the category structure for Just Show Up Cruises so it's easier to find (and post) exactly what you're looking for. Here's the quick guide: Start Here New to the group and want the quick rundown on what JSUC is and how it works. Announcements & Updates Just want to keep up — new sailings, pricing changes, and what's launching next get posted here. Build In Progress Have ideas, feedback, or "here's what I'd want to see" thoughts while we're actively building out the group. Cruise Line Talk Trying to decide between cruise lines, or want to share what you know about a specific one. Dream Destinations Daydreaming about where you'd go — Antarctica, Norway, Galápagos, Japan, wherever's calling to you. Traveler Fears & Questions Have a hesitation, worry, or "is this even for me" question about expedition cruising. No question is too basic. Solo & Roommate Matching Traveling solo and want to split a cabin cost, or have questions about how matching works. Sailings & Availability Want to see what's actually bookable right now, with real dates and pricing. Member Wins & Stories Just got back from a trip and want to share photos, highlights, or how it went. Ask Us Anything Never cruised before and have honest, no-judgment questions — tipping, packing, excursions, whatever's on your mind. Going forward, posting in the right spot helps everyone find what they're looking for faster — and it means your input actually reaches the people building the next thing you're asking about!

Antarctica keeps coming up. Let's actually talk about it.
A few of you have mentioned Antarctica in the "I almost didn't build this" thread, and one story in particular stuck with me. Shirley had a trip booked on NCL a while back. Ports started getting cancelled one by one, and then the whole cruise got pulled. She never got to go. That's the kind of thing that would make most people quietly give up on the idea. She hasn't. So I want to open this up for real. If Antarctica has been sitting on your list, whether it's a first attempt or a "I tried once and it fell through" situation like Shirley's, drop a comment and tell me what you're picturing. A few things I'm curious about: - Is this a bucket-list-someday thing, or are you actually ready to look at dates? - Expedition ship experience, or something more traditional? - Does timing matter, like a specific season or year? Nothing's locked in yet. I'm genuinely gathering interest before I start building anything, so the more of you who weigh in here, the faster this becomes real instead of just an idea. Where are you at with this one? — Michael
