Sometimes we think one has to travel to experience novelties and discover the richness of life. My debut book, Beyond The Icon , is opening new doors and leading me to corridors of sheer joy. For four days I have been visiting my exhibition table for book signing and just mingling with writers and attending launches. The Durban International Book Fair is an experience I will always treasure. It was wrapped up with literary awards. It was the 7th Book Fair in town and I had not attended a single one because 'I was busy'.

Building the book I recently launched has been a rewarding and liberating experience. Although it is based on lessons learned when I worked closely with Nelson Mandela, the book is not about him. There are many people who have written about Nelson Mandela; Beyond The Icon is a leadership manual for both young and old. It brings down Nelson Mandela to us to learn that ordinary people are capable of doing extraordinary things. It is in our hands to be the best we can be as long as we break free from mental societal prisons.

On this day 27th April 1994, for the first time all South Africans voted for change; hence today is a national holiday to celebrate Freedom Day. I have shared my thoughts on the true meaning of freedom. It is sheer joy to be free and be flexible to choose how to spend time in a meaningful way. I treasure the moments I get to share my thoughts with you. Indeed, technology contributes to the quality of life.
