Here's what took me way too long to realize: raising a multilingual kid isn't about being perfect every single moment. It's about the pattern over time, not any one slip-up. My daughter is still growing up fluent in Swedish, despite those easier-English moments, because consistency doesn't mean flawless. If you’re constantly correcting your child’s language, you might actually be making them less willing to use it. I know the instinct, I’ve been there. But you don’t need to stop the conversation every time they use the wrong word or grammar; instead, repeat what they said in your language, and keep the conversation going. Your child needs to feel that speaking your language is safe and enjoyable, not like they’re constantly being tested. Try this the next time your child makes a mistake: model, don’t correct.
