On the fly
"On the fly" in restaurants means that something is done quickly, right away, with no preparation.
For example,
We will make the food on the fly.== We will make the food immediately/right away.
The first time I saw “on the fly” in a restaurant, I thought “fly” meant a housefly, so I took it literally and thought it sounded unhygienic.😅
