Most of us only notice what our body's doing once we're already in the red, snapping at everyone, or frozen on the couch with the phone in our hand and no idea how long we've been there. But there's a stage before that, and it's the one where you've got the most room to do something about it. Here's one way of looking at it. Your body has its own traffic light, and it switches between three colours all day long. 🟢 Green is when you feel safe enough to just be yourself, think of sitting round a fire with people you love, chatting and laughing and breathing easily. 🟡 Yellow is your body getting ready to deal with something, heart going a bit faster, shoulders up round your ears, a mind that won't switch off, snappy, restless, wired. That's your fight or flight, and feeling anxious or overwhelmed lives here too. 🔴 Red is when it all gets too much and your body shuts down to protect you, you go quiet, foggy, numb, heavy, like you've left the room while you're still standing in it. None of these colours are bad, they're all your body trying to look after you. The reason I want you to focus on yellow is that it's so much easier to come back from yellow than red, and most of us have a little sign we've been ignoring for years. We'll look at yours together on Wednesday. This matters because you can't change what you can't see. A lot of us have been running on yellow for years and just thought that was normal, so when you start noticing it, you find out you've got more choice than you thought. And it gives us a good starting point for everything we'll work on together later. 📄🌿 I made you a three page worksheet called My Traffic Light Map. It helps you work out what each colour feels like in your own body, and there's a 7 day tracker so you can practise catching yourself in yellow this week. If thinking about red feels heavy, leave that box blank and stay with green and yellow, that's plenty. 👇🌿 Let's start with the easy one. Where do you feel most green? Tell me the place, or the people, or the moment, I want to hear about your campfire.
