ANNUAL FILINGS DON’T FILE THEMSELVES
Have you completed your annual filing or do you need to start the process of filing for your nonprofit tax-exempt status? Nonprofit leaders, getting your 501(c)(3) status was not the end of the paperwork. 😏 There are annual filings and renewals that help keep your organization compliant, and missing them can create problems you absolutely do not need. Your IRS filing is one of them, but don't forget about state requirements, charitable solicitation registrations, and keeping your organization's information current. And here's the part I want you to remember: Compliance should be a system, not an emergency. Put the deadlines on the calendar. Assign responsibility. Keep your records organized throughout the year. Because discovering something was due six months ago is a terrible organizational strategy. 😂 Save this as your reminder, and check the specific federal and state requirements that apply to your organization. Checking in on the Cheat Sheet...
The sale is coming up again for the Grant Station grant directory, https://grantstation.com/. Although I should you how to search grants for 'free', there is a paid directory that is $119 for one whole year. Two days only, September 15 and 16! Mark your calendars. I like this one because it is easy to upload your proposal or some basic information about your nonprofit as it relates to mission and location. Also like many of them, there are some humans on the back end also researching and adding grants to the platform. But, again, it's only $119! Oh yeah, sign up for Tech Soup, https://www.techsoup.org/ now, if you haven't already. That is part of the process to get it for this price. If you didn't get the Nonprofit Cheat Sheet, click here

Stop sending sponsorship decks!
There is a video I shared a while back, about sponsorships. It was a very unique video because the lady was someone who came from corporate and was the contact person for actually approving sponsorships. I wanted to share another video because there are 2 things that continue to stand out but I see so many leaders do it anyway. 1. Sending pitch decks before being asked to do so. 2. Talking to sponsor representatives as if their decision will be based on your mission and the work that you do. The commonality that I keep seeing is that anything involving money is never just transactional if at all, it is relational along the way. But for sponsorships it is still not about your mission.
