Prep Saturday - how is it going at your place?
I can't believe another week is almost gone. We are in the middle of the winter here, and the weather is unseasonably crazy - one day warm and sunny, next day just plain grey, rain and cold. I want to do nothing else but sit in front of the fireplace. Even my dog is not keen to venture outside. Winter gives me that extra time indoors to try new recipes. I am foodie, love too cook and eat. And as it is raining outside, I am taking my time to do bit of admin and prep for my next week. And of course, planning my shopping. Just 15 minutes in your day today can really a difference in your week ahead, making things little bit easier. What you can do? Here are some ideas : - Cook some protein. - Wash and chop vegetables. - Write your shopping list. - Portion healthy snacks. - Plan your walks. Preparation removes obstacles. When healthy choices are easy to make, we're much more likely to stick with them. So let me know in comments, what's one thing you're preparing today - or tomorrow if this is your thing. And don't forget to check some of my recipe ideas, it may inspire you to try something new next week. Look after yourselves and enjoy your weekend 💛

Feel Good Friday: Notice What's Working and Celebrate
We've spent this week thinking, acting, learning and moving. Today we're doing something equally important: We're celebrating. 🎉 And I don't mean waiting until you've lost a certain amount of weight, completely changed your diet, exercised every day or finally achieved some big health goal. I mean celebrating the small things you're already doing. Because progress isn't only found in the big milestones. Sometimes progress looks like: - Adding protein to your breakfast. - Remembering to drink more water. - Taking that 10-minute walk after lunch. - Adding another vegetable to your plate. - Pausing before automatically reaching for an afternoon snack and asking, "What do I actually need right now?" - Going to bed a little earlier and waking up feeling better. - Taking five minutes to slow down when your day becomes stressful. Or perhaps, you simply became more aware of one of your habits this week. That counts too. Why do I want you to celebrate the small things? Because when we're working on our health, it's incredibly easy to focus on what's still missing. "I only walked twice." "I still had chocolate." "I didn't drink enough water every day." "My meals weren't perfect." But what happens if we change the conversation? Instead of: "I only walked twice." Try: "I walked twice more than I might have before." Instead of: "My meals weren't perfect." Try: "I made one meal more nourishing today." That's progress. We're not ignoring the things we'd still like to improve. We're simply recognizing that change is already happening. Your brain likes a win, too! Acknowledging a positive action helps reinforce the behaviour and reminds you: "I can do this." And that's important when we're building sustainable habits. We don't want healthy living to feel like an endless list of things we're getting wrong. We want to notice what's working, and build from there. One glass of water. One balanced breakfast. One walk. One better night's sleep. Repeated over time, those ordinary choices begin becoming your normal.

Hello Active Thursday
Take a Walk Thursday: Let Your Muscles Help We've been talking this week about small habits that can support better blood sugar balance. Today we're going to use one of the most powerful tools we already have: Our muscles. And no, today's challenge doesn't require a gym, workout clothes or an hour of exercise. All I ask of you is to find one opportunity to add a little more movement to your day. It could be: - Park a little further away when you're shopping. - Take the stairs instead of the lift. - Walk around while you're on a phone call. - Take a 5–10 minute movement break during your workday. - Or, my favorite for today's blood sugar theme, enjoy a 10-minute walk after a meal. Every little bit of movement counts. Why does movement help blood sugar? When you eat carbohydrates, they're broken down into glucose, which enters your bloodstream. Your muscles can use that glucose for energy. When your muscles are active, they increase their uptake of glucose, which is one reason regular physical activity can support healthy blood sugar regulation and insulin sensitivity. Think about it this way: Your muscles aren't just helping you move. They're also active participants in your metabolic health. Another wonderful example of just how connected our bodies are. What could this look like in everyday life? Perhaps you've finished lunch and normally go straight back to your desk. Today, take a 10-minute walk first. Maybe evenings are busy and a dedicated workout simply isn't realistic. Try walking around the block after dinner instead. Or perhaps you spend much of your day sitting. Set yourself a reminder to stand, stretch or walk for a few minutes throughout the day. None of these actions feels particularly dramatic. That's the point. We're looking for movement that fits naturally into your life, because that's the movement you're more likely to keep doing. A short walk isn't only about blood sugar. It can give you fresh air. Help break up long periods of sitting. Give your mind a reset.

Today's challenge: Add one simple hydration habit
Yesterday we started the week by noticing our habits. Today we're going to take action, but we're keeping it beautifully simple. Drink one glass of water before each main meal today. That's it. No complicated routine. No tracking everything you eat. No trying to change five habits at once. Just one small action repeated throughout your day. Why hydration matters Water is involved in almost every process in your body. Staying adequately hydrated supports: - Normal digestion and bowel function - Concentration and mental performance - Energy and physical performance - Temperature regulation - Transport of nutrients and removal of waste And there's another benefit to today's challenge that I particularly like: It creates a pause. Instead of rushing straight into your meal, that glass of water can become a little reminder to check in with yourself. Ask: Am I hungry? How hungry am I? Am I eating because it's mealtime, because I'm stressed or bored, or because my body genuinely needs nourishment? There's no judgement attached to the answer. We're simply building awareness. What might this look like in real life? Maybe mornings are hectic and you realise you've reached lunchtime having barely had anything to drink. Perhaps coffee carries you through the morning and water gets forgotten. Or maybe you simply don't feel very thirsty, so drinking water isn't something you naturally remember. Rather than telling yourself: "I need to drink loads more water!" Try attaching hydration to something you already do every day: Breakfast → glass of water Lunch → glass of water Dinner → glass of water Now we're not relying entirely on memory or motivation. We're stacking a new habit onto an existing one. And that's how sustainable habits begin. And what about blood sugar? Water itself doesn't magically "balance" blood sugar. But good hydration is part of supporting normal body function and an overall lifestyle that supports metabolic health. And when we combine hydration with the other habits we're practicing this month — balanced meals, movement, quality sleep and stress management — those little actions begin working together.
