Finally, I HAVE MY OWN PLACE. 🏡✨ Since March, I’ve been living in other people’s spaces, and this season has taught me more about myself, boundaries, relationships, and healing than I ever expected. One thing I had to admit is that home has always represented safety to me. After leaving an abusive relationship, having my own space became the one place where I knew I was safe. So when I sense that something is off, my survival instinct kicks in. I get quiet. I retreat. I start moving in silence and preparing Plan B. And I have to include myself in the lessons I learned. Living with other people is HARD. Everyone has different personalities, expectations, habits, triggers, and boundaries. I absolutely believe in respecting someone’s home and following reasonable rules. But I also believe those rules should apply to everyone. I don’t like being told what I can and cannot do while watching different standards apply to someone else. I don’t do disrespect simply because we disagree. I will do my part—and usually more than my part—but I also won’t allow someone to speak to me any kind of way. One thing I noticed about myself is how much I stayed in my room because I never wanted anyone to feel like I was invading their space. Maybe sometimes that became isolation. Maybe sometimes I made myself smaller just to keep the peace. That’s something I’m taking with me into this next chapter—not as shame, but as awareness. Because maybe these experiences weren’t just about getting through temporary living situations. Maybe they were preparing me for something greater. I’m learning how to communicate instead of immediately retreating. I’m learning that boundaries don’t have to mean walls. I’m learning that disagreement doesn’t have to mean disrespect. I’m learning that I can share space with someone without losing myself. And yes… maybe God was even using these experiences to prepare me for my future husband. ❤️ I don’t want to enter that relationship believing I have to run every time the energy changes. I want to know how to communicate, listen, compromise, set healthy boundaries, and still maintain who I am.
