Office Hours: How to Build Trust Around Usage Based Pricing
Howdy pricing people! @Fynn Glover, CEO of Schematic, is back for another session to talk about the part of usage-based pricing nobody talks about enough: trust. Schematic powers entitlements and metering for a lot of companies shipping UBP and hybrid models, so Fynn has a clear view of what teams actually build versus what they promise the customer at signature. Usually there's a gap, and it shows up at renewal. A few things we're going to dig into: - What buyers need to see before they'll commit to a usage-based contract - Where guardrails build trust vs. where they cap your own expansion revenue - Why visibility, spend controls, and admin have gone from nice-to-have to tablestakes This is the biggest objection I get from folks mid-migration to UBP, so I'm glad we're finally doing a full session on it. Rob Littehurst — thank you for setting this up. Appreciate connecting with peers and brainstorming real‑world pricing scenarios. I recently shared a Four‑Part CFO Framework on how to price AI services as an alternative to usage‑based pricing — designed to help leaders manage cost volatility while protecting margin. The framework covers: 1️⃣ Challenging the meter — every model moves risk. 2️⃣ Proving value — capacity, not consumption. 3️⃣ Testing the 80/20 — protect margin. 4️⃣ Designing the price corridor — predictable, fair, and CFO‑ready. If you’re exploring how to align product, finance, and GTM teams around predictable pricing and protected margins, feel free to reach out. Always happy to compare notes and share what I’m seeing across SaaS, fintech, and data‑intelligence companies and learn from everyone.

Partner / MSP / Reseller pricing
Anyone create or own pricing for resellers? I want to get smarter about how to decide pricing here. I really hate the margin arbitrage game where they negotiate with you to carve out a margin for themselves. Anyone seen or created a better approach to avoid weird incentives for the customer?
Office Hours: How to Iterate on Pricing Faster
Howdy pricing people! After a short break for paternity leave (we welcomed a baby boy!) we're back with a new Office Hours session. This is going to be a good one -- I'll be joined by @Arnon Shimoni (Solvimon) and @Ulrik Lehrskov-Schmidt (Willingness to Pay) on something I get asked about constantly: how to iterate on pricing faster. What's fun about this pairing is they cover both sides: - Ulrik takes the strategy side — how to read willingness to pay and decide what to change. - Arnon takes the execution side — how to actually ship pricing and billing changes in minutes instead of getting stuck for months. A few things we're going to dig into: - How do you move fast on pricing without breaking things downstream? - The build-vs-buy trap — why teams try to roll their own billing and underestimate what they're signing up for. - How the fastest-moving companies are pricing AI products right now. This is Q&A-first, so bring your questions — we'll work through as many as we can live.
