✨ Sunday Shift & Nourishment Week of August 16
Happy Sunday shift day! 🌟 1) One thing I'll admit: in summer, I have more ice cream. But even then, it's just once in a while. 🌟 2) It's worth looking at the big picture: what does it actually give you? If you need to reduce, the guideline gives you something to aim for. But ask yourself what it's been filling. If it's a tool for you right now, cutting it back will leave a gap, so it's worth exploring other tools too: grounding tools, nervous system tools, whatever else actually meets that need. ✨ This week, you lead you. What's more common, and what we don't talk about: we see all the before-and-after pictures, but nobody shows the after-after. I don't think that's very honest. Research is starting to track people longer term, because what is success, really? After twelve weeks? After six months? Or is it success only if someone's grown the behavior change in a self-led way, one they're actually aligned with and can sustain for life? That's why we use the Good, Better, Best framework. We already plan for life to happen. Good is your hardest week version, and I mean it, if you wouldn't do it on your absolute hardest week ever, take it down a notch. Better is your average week. Best is your stretch goal when everything aligns. All the same flavor, just different levels. 🔎 This week's lens: Nourishment, Sweets. Here's what it could look like, modeled for you: Good: Just notice. Track how many times you have a commercial sweet or pastry this week. Better: One less than your usual count. Best: Land under 3 for the week, the Mediterranean target. Feel free to copy this, tweak it to be true for you, and post it as your own... or set something completely different. You know yourself best. 🔎 Not sure where to start? Used the PCOS Lab Check-list and it worked! 🥳
Hope this can inspire other members to do the same! This community has given me the courage to ask some specific lab prescriptions to a doctor! I was really nervous because it was a first time in my life where I was a bit more ACTIVE in my health, and asked something instead of just accepting what was given to me. The doctor didn't want to give me all the lab work I wanted from the PCOS Lab Checklist, but I got a few! Every one of them is a win. I cannot express enough my gratitude towards Dr Mélanie DesChâtelets for this. You changed my life. Thank you so much 🫶

Body Image & PMOS
Love the conversation and vulnerability @Hannah Snelling sharing and I'm circling it here cause I just wante to get it on your radar. A version of this conversation I've heard so many times and is so real. Would love for you to share if your relationship with you body has changed in a more positive direction and what helped you get there? The stat that stopped me... 84.5%
I read a study this week that made me pause. 587 women with PMOS. 84.5% of them had pathological scores on a validated body image scale. Not "some." Not "a subset." Eighty-four point five percent. And here's the part that matters clinically: when researchers ran the numbers, poor body image wasn't just showing up alongside anxiety and depression scores in this group... it was independently linked to both, even after accounting for other factors. Body image isn't a footnote to PMOS mental health. In this data, it's one of the main drivers. I want to be careful here, because "just lose weight" is not what this means. What it means is: if a provider is only screening for depression or anxiety with a generic checklist, and never asks how someone feels about their body, they're missing one of the biggest levers in the room. 📎 The study: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39945793/ If body image has been part of your PMOS experience, I'd love to hear how... good, bad, or complicated.
