So much happening with the community these days!! Love seeing everyone going live on Substack and even the most fun - popping on a life and finding other community members hanging out there too!
You all are talking about fascinating things (okay, I might be prejudiced but I just love hearing what you all have to say)
When you join lives somethings to consider ...
Tap the heart button - though I cannot find evidence this works the same as on TikTok (signaling the algorithm) intuitively it seems like it does
And commenting - typing in the comments section encourages other to join the chat and helps the hosts feel like the audience is engaged with them. (maybe you don't have to be as chatty as I am most of the time but hopping in and at least saying hello and letting them know you're there and engaged is supportive. Again, this may or may not bring more people to the live but I suspect that it helps over all. )
When you go live, especially with other content creator on Substack - Substack pushes your live to both audience in the app, in the notifications and in the email boxes of subscribers. Afterwards the shorts can live in the notes section and extend the reach even further as lives create long form content you can added to in the form of a written post on your publication.
goes live on Sundays with the spiritual forecast coming up
goes live on Wednesday mornings (10am mtn) with her label to table messages she share with Dani
goes live on Friday evenings
goes live most weeks across a bunch of platforms
I know there are more of you going live and/or planning to start going live regularly - be sure to share with us when you do. Pop a post in here so we can come checkup what you're up to!

asked yesterday in another thread - now that there have been so many updates in the Substack world what are the 3 most important things to look at/adjust/be aware of when it comes to setting up your publication - okay so she was a lot more succinct in her question.
- The first thing I would look at is your publication - go visit your publication in an incognito browser tab as though you're going there for the first time... or better yet have someone else go look at it that is an independent observer - like a spouse/partner/friend/adult children/your neighbor. Check it out on your lap/desktop and on your phone - they are not the same interfaces
Ask them if they can tell what your main message is and if it's easy to figure out 1. what they get from subscribing 2. how they can work with you further.
Then I'd look at these 3 things just for the aesthetics and to make it easier for people to navigate
- Your branding - are your colors easy to read - do you have images for every post? (there is a free Substack Post Check list in the classroom here: #💰 Substack Post Checklist and is your wordmark an actual wordmark or is it a postage stamp at the top? (I made you this short video to fix that - https://youtu.be/B7BhG8FpT6s)
If you'd like to go through all the settings and really get your Substack publication designed appropriately to attract clients - you're going to want to go through the Substack Setup Intensive #🎯START HERE We do this live every couple weeks or so The next one is scheduled for September 4th at 10am mtn though there are a bunch of replays in the classroom now so you can start when you're ready and then hop on the live when it rolls around again. IMPORTANT NOTE - there are many of you who have gone through the Intensive - part of this is that I will hop on zoom with you and run through your Substack publication I call these Substack Audits #🔎Substack Audit they are included in the Intensive. Also, in the intensive is how to connect your Subtack to Google #👀Google Analytics 🍵🍋🟩🍄🏵️🍄🍋🟩🍵

Yesterday I had 3 separate people talk to me about posting into the void on Substack & Skool and I want to take just a minute to explain why that happens in the kindest way possible.
You need to give before you get.
No one knows you yet - at least not in a way that they would go looking for you if you don't help them out. That is the magic of the notes boost thread and why I show up here every day for you all and hope that you will show up for each other.
The way to grow on Substack (and Skool) is to engage with others - not everyone is going to want what you offer - that's okay - they get to know your offers and when the time is right, they send people your way. They may never visit your Skool community or leave comments there - but when someone needs what you offer, they remember you and recommend you to others - this happens because you pop in every once in a while and say hello around what they are doing.
Commenting on posts and notes in Substack (and on the other side always leaving comments open for anyone who has taken the time to read your post . Being hit with a paywall - it pisses people off and not only will they not subscribe they will not come back)
You have to engage with people where they are before they will come over to where you are. It's just the way the world works - remember in the book How to Win Friends and Influence People? Be more INTERESTED than INTERESTING
I grew up moving almost every 2 years of my life (except for the 5 years I spent in Japan - and even then my friends all moved every 2 years also) so that meant that every 2 years I had to make a whole new circle of friends - I went to 14 different schools in my 11 year school career. This was LONG before the internet and we still had a 3-minute rule for the 1 telephone in the house and don't even think about calling long distance. When I talk about how to connect with people it's from this perspective.
Do things for others without expectation - and on the other side if you're getting something for nothing be gracious. If you're no longer interested all good but be kind.
And one more thing - you'll notice I don't talk about dming people on Substack - unless you have a relationship with people dming is more likely to annoy people than it is to actually create a conversation. Sending links unsolicited is spamming others. (I didn't make up the rules - I'm just sharing with you how it's generally perceived) It's also why there is a 10 dm per week rule on Skool. (well unless you have crms)
