It's Substack Setup Intensive day today!! 🐦‍🔥Yep, that's the phoenix rising - This is one of my most favorite things I do each month - the opportunity to help you make your Substack publication sustainable and monetized!!
Whether you're new to Substack or been around awhile going through this will unlock aspects of Substack you never knew existed or if you did know they existed - where to find them.
I often compare Substack to a Ferrari - it an amazing and powerful piece of equipment but if you don't know how to drive a stick it's just a car.
We start at 10am mtn today #🎯START HERE

Today I'd like to talk about monetizing your Substack - not just turning on the paid option but actually making offers on your publication. It's kind of the elephant in the room, right? 🐘
Yes, we'd all love to make money from our writing and never have to "sell" anyone anything. Can that happen on Substack - well the possibility does exist and I've seen people support new publications for a while but ultimately you need to solve problems for people or make their lives better in some aspect that they are longing for.
[𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 - 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲 (𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁)]
Even if you don't have your the whole client journey mapped out yet - you can at least have a couple mini offers that you can sell with a discount (we'll talk about that in a minute) or make part of your offer to paid subscribers on Substack.
Can't think of anything to offer? That why I created the #🚀 Welcome to the Mini Offer Creation Engine
The Mini Offer Creation Engine helps you:
Turn your expertise into a clear, sellable offer
It identifies the right problem, transformation, format, ideal buyer, promise, and price - replacing “What should I create?” with a focused offer concept.
Build and launch your offer quickly
You receive a personalized action plan based on whether you want to launch today, over a weekend, or within a week - so you can stop overthinking and start selling.
Market your offer with confidence
It provides the sales assets and ready-to-use AI prompts needed to create a sales page, launch email, Substack post, social post, and podcast CTA.
Go from an idea in your head to a clear, priced, marketable mini offer - with a practical plan for getting it in front of buyers.

Okay, now that you have an offer (or 2 or 3) Let's talk about the Perks Page. I'm adding a copy of mine - not because I want you to subscribe - because I want to show you what it looks like - from the perks page once someone click on the image (not the unlock/subscribe option) the item opens up to a more complete sales page.
So here's the scoop on how this can work for you:
Option 1 Straight up offers - come up with something for paid subscribers, annual paid subscribers and founding members (you need to put annual or founding in the title as you create these to get the option to restrict access to the high subscription rate) And then you simply put the access link into the appropriate space.
Option 2 is to offer discounts - and there you will have a purchase link and the discount code available once they become a subscriber - this makes your subscription more like a Costo subscription which opens the door to discounts on your offers.
Option 3 is a combination of the two above.
You can find the Perks page setting by going to your dashboard and scrolling down just below the benefits section under the payment options and for the love of everything holy (you know like cows) please connect stripe and accept payments - you never know who wants to support you - you should definitely let them!

And one more Substack tip - just because you can use colors on your publication doesn't mean you should. From time to time, I hit publication pages where the color combinations actually hurt my eyes - I can't hang around because the combination is literally blinding me.
Less is often more when it comes to the internet, colors and spaces intended for a lot of reading. White on black or black on white is the clearest combination - use color in headers, subscription banners and footers - add images to your posts and maybe dividers.
If you've just GOT to have that colored background, make sure that the highlight color you've chosen doesn't clash with it in a way that hurts people's vision.
Most people are polite and won't tell you it's a problem then just won't come back.
Invite people to look at your page and give you honest feedback - not people who are vested in your feelings you want real feedback.

post your links to notes, chats, lives & articles here for boosting - we will like, comment and restack where appropriate. And remember the more you give in terms of commenting on content the more you receive - it's just how Substack works.
Open to feedback
no way - I love my colors
