Yesterday was all the fun around here - but also pretty relaxing. After last week I needed to have some down time - today will be like that too I suspect. Lots of energy shifting happened last week.
Today marks the end of the first week of Hobo Homesteading - I now have 10 subscribers - 5 items in the shop (I'm doing this experiment for results around making money selling stuff in a pop up shop - I think the apron is hilarious but I think only the people in @Henry Hunter's community would get it) I've published 5 articles and have the first of the planned monthly guides up for my paid subscribers. I think I'll make a video about this project next week now that I have some data coming in.
On the home improvement front we installed a porch light to match the one on the other front porch (people in Idaho like to have 2 front entrances - it's totally a thing here) it only took an hour! Our usual projects that we think will take an hour generally require 15 more trips to the hardware store 47 conversations with ai and weeks not hours to complete. Something very satisfying about being sort of done with the electrical projects for a while.

Want to give some shout out to people with big stuff happening in the community - these people can use our help with reviews and feedback:
's book is available over on Amazon Kindle right now and he could use reviews - Congratulations for hitting the best seller list Sam! You can learn more about it and what he is doing here: https://substack.com/@babasamshelley/note/c-325215699?r=361ng&utm_source=notes-share-action&utm_medium=web
@Vinayak Ramesh will be launching his podcast on Sept 1st and could use help with downloads and reviews on the first - he will be sharing the link with me later and I'll share it here once he does. I'll post it tomorrow because He needs this to happen on the first.
is going to do 2 more workshops around his ISP method - Identity Sensory Projection™ as he works to sorts out how it will look in the "wild". He is doing these mainly for feedback right now. The next 2 will be Monday and Tuesday at 2pm mtn and you can join him here: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/82253884356?pwd=9ZLUofaoBv4sfQpBOqwFRpPFWIqiEw.1 This is the link for Monday

Let's talk emails and Substack shall we?
@Antonella Di Franco asked about emailing yesterday and I think now is a good time to address how Substack works as an emailing resource.
First off there are 4 separate ways that Substack allows us to email our subscribers. (And there is one more in the works but hasn't been rolled out universally yet)
  1. Create posts/content
  2. Welcome emails
  3. Chats
  4. Broadcast emails
  5. Coming to a publication near you soon - automations - we'll talk more about this once they are a universal thing.
We are going to talk about broadcast emails today - you can email your subscribers directly by going to the Subscriber link on your dashboard (the one on the left-hand menu) once there, filter which subscribers you wish to email or simply click the box for all (you have to choose all after checking the box) then you will see an email button show up.
The email template looks a lot like your article template as far as the tools bar goes. You will add a title and content and then publish it, which sends it out to the audience you selected.
You can find your published emails mixed in with your posts but they do not get posted to your publication they just live there so you can find them again once created and sent and see the stats attached to them.
** you can personalize these by typing %%first_name%% I don't recommend adding the comma after because if they aren't logged into Substack when they read the email or post it will present as a blank space and the comma will look random but an extra space is sort of normal.

Post your links to notes, chats, lives, and articles for boosting - we will like, restack and comment where appropriate.
I use the email broadcast already
I didn't know it was an option
Going to try it out this week!
