I LOVE September. 🍵🍁
There is something about September that always feels like a fresh start to me - and apparently I took that quite literally because Learn Substack looks a little different today. 😂
Before I tell you what changed, though, today is a very special day for one of our members, and we have an opportunity to help him get his new podcast off to a strong start.
🎙️ Help Vinayak launch Sustainable Side Hustle
@Vinayak Ramesh is officially launching his new podcast, Sustainable Side Hustle, today! He created a series of 8 short, totally bingeable episodes for the launch, and you can listen to them here. The MOST helpful thing you can do today is listen to all 8 episodes all the way through.
And if you enjoy the show, leave him a rating and review.
He asked each guest one fascinating question:
“If you lost everything tomorrow, but you still had your day job, what would your first 30 days look like trying to build it all back up?”
My answer might surprise you.
Actually, the question itself inspired me to take action.
So go binge those episodes and then come back and tell us which answer made YOU think differently.

🌱 Now... about those changes to Learn Substack
Yesterday I listened to Calvin Hollywood explain how he creates an 80% trial conversion rate in his Skool communities.
I expected some incredibly complicated funnel with 37 moving pieces.
Nope.
One of my biggest takeaways was:
Simple beats complex.
And the more he explained his model, the more I realized how beautifully it fits with what we're building here.
So yes...
I changed Learn Substack again. 😂
It IS my experimental community, after all. I am intentionally using it to test what works so I can share what I learn with you.
The biggest change is that there is now a much clearer path through the community.
Instead of opening the classroom and wondering, Where on earth am I supposed to start?, you'll have a roadmap.
Your Learn Substack path looks like this:
1️⃣ Start with the Visibility Through Notes Blueprint
This is where we begin because before you need MORE content, you need people discovering you.
We're going to help you understand how Notes work, how conversations create visibility and how to start becoming someone people recognize on Substack.
2️⃣ Build Your Foundation
This opens at the end of your trial and helps you make sure the pieces underneath your visibility are actually there.
Because getting attention doesn't help much if people arrive and can't figure out who you are, why they should subscribe or what to do next.
3️⃣ Complete the 9-Day Substack Momentum Challenge
This opens on Day 32 and walks you through the next stage of building, publishing and growing your Substack.
And at any point, if you want to move faster, you can upgrade to Premium and join me for the live Substack Setup Intensive rather than figuring all of this out piece by piece on your own.
That's really the philosophy behind the new structure:
You can absolutely learn Substack over time.
Premium isn't about withholding information you need.
It's about giving you the opportunity to buy speed.
You can spend months Googling, tinkering, changing things and wondering whether you've missed something.
Or you can get the important pieces set up correctly and get to work building the audience, relationships and revenue you actually came to Substack to create.

One other thing I've noticed that I think is REALLY interesting...
Because Learn Substack is public, Google and ChatGPT are finding content posted here.
And it's not just my content they're finding.
When you drop links to your Substack Notes, articles, Lives and other content into our Daily Notes Boost threads, those links are sitting inside a public page that Google and AI can discover.
I've started seeing evidence that those searches are leading people back here to Learn Substack - but to me, there's an even bigger takeaway:
Your Substack content isn't necessarily living in a little Substack bubble.
Google and AI are finding the conversations and links surrounding it, too.
That means every time you publish something useful on Substack and then share it here, you're potentially creating another trail that can help people — and search engines and AI — discover your work.
THAT'S fascinating to me.
And it's another reason I want us sharing our Substack links in these Daily Notes Boost threads instead of simply saying, “I posted today!”
We're not only helping each other boost our content inside Substack.
We're giving that content more places to be discovered outside of Substack, too.👀

🎯 The Substack Setup Intensive is LIVE Friday
September 4 at 10 AM Mountain
You can technically set up a Substack in about 10 minutes.
Name.
Description.
Image.
First post.
Boom.
You have a Substack.
But is it set up to actually DO anything?
That's a very different question.
Because after you create it, the real questions begin:
What am I supposed to write about?
How will people find me?
What should be on my About page?
Why should someone subscribe?
Where am I leading them after they subscribe?
How does this eventually turn into revenue?
That's the difference between having a Substack and building a Substack that supports what you're trying to create.
That's why I created the Substack Setup Intensive.
We're not spending two hours learning where all the buttons are.
We're making sure those buttons are pointing somewhere.
During the Intensive, we'll work on YOUR Substack so you can:
✨ Make it immediately clear who your publication is for and why someone should subscribe.
✨ Understand the role Substack plays in your larger business or revenue ecosystem.
✨ Create a path from reader → subscriber → relationship → customer/client.
✨ Set up the built-in discovery and growth pieces so you aren't simply publishing into the void.
✨ Know what you're publishing, why you're publishing it and where you're leading people next.
✨ Build calls to action and monetization into your foundation rather than trying to bolt them on six months from now.
✨ Understand which Substack settings and features actually matter for what YOU are building.
And most importantly...
You work on your Substack while we're together.
This isn't another training that leaves you with 47 things on your to-do list.
I want you leaving able to say:
I know who I'm talking to.
I know what I'm publishing.
I know how people can find me.
I know where I'm leading them.
And I know how this can eventually make money.
Could you figure all of that out yourself?
Of course.
But figuring out Substack isn't actually the goal.
Building something valuable with it is.
Premium members can join me for Friday's Intensive as part of their membership.

Remember: publishing helps people discover you. Genuine conversations give them a reason to remember you.
And today, let's give Vinayak a little extra community love.
Go listen to Sustainable Side Hustle, help give his launch some momentum, and support him in reaching the people who are working a full-time job while dreaming about building something of their own. Happy September, everyone. 🍁
Let's make it a good one.
