Start here. Say hello.
Welcome. This is a place to use English, not to study it. There is one thing to do today, and it takes about two minutes. Introduce yourself in the comments. Three lines is enough. - Where are you writing from? - What do you need English for, now or later? - One thing you are good at, in any language. Not sure how to start? Use these: "Hi, I am ... and I am from ..." "I need English for ..." "I am good at ..." Two things about this place. Mistakes are welcome here. I would much rather read a message with five mistakes in it than not read your message at all. Nobody here is going to correct you unless you ask. Read one other introduction and reply to it. One reply. That is where a community starts, and it is also where your speaking starts, because writing to a real person is the closest thing to talking to one. If you want to make it harder, say your introduction out loud first, then type it. That small step is the whole point of this community. I read every introduction and I answer every one. See you in the comments, Lucas

New lesson: say or tell?
"He said me the truth." If you've ever said something like that, you're not alone. It's one of the most common B1 mistakes, and the fix is just one question. You tell someone (there's a person after it). You say something (no person). So before you choose, look for the person. "She told me" vs "She said hello." Full lesson is in the classroom, with the four tricky phrases that always take "tell" and five practice sentences with answers. Now you: fill this in out loud, then type it below. "Can you ___ me your name?" Say or tell? Post your answer, I read every one.

Your morning
Describe your morning today in five sentences. Not your ideal morning. The real one. Out loud first. Stuck? "This morning I ... Then I ..."
