Day 28: Press On Toward the Goal
Scripture "Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:13-14 Scripture Explanation Paul had not arrived. He still pressed on. The key was forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead. The goal is the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. For recovery this means you do not live in the rearview mirror. You press on. The past is not your identity. The goal is. Application Forgetting what lies behind does not mean pretending it did not happen. It means it no longer controls you. Today practice forgetting in that sense. When the past tries to define you refuse it. Strain forward. Press on. The goal is the upward call. Knowing Jesus more. Becoming like Him. Living free for His glory. One thing I do. Make that your focus. Not many things. One thing. Pressing on. I spent too much time looking back. It only slowed me down. Looking forward with Jesus keeps the momentum. Write down one thing from the past that still tries to hold you. Then write I forget what lies behind. I strain forward. I press on. Pray it. Live it. The prize is worth the press. Keep going. You have not arrived but you are on the way. Press on toward the goal. The upward call is real. Answer it today. Take time today to sit with this truth. Journal the specific ways it confronts the lies of addiction in your life. Write one practical step you will take today because of this Scripture. Pray the verse back to God in your own words. Ask Him to plant it deep so that when pressure comes this truth rises up instead of the old patterns. Remember that every day of choosing freedom rewires your responses. Be patient with the process but persistent in the practice. Share what you are learning with a trusted friend if you have one. Accountability multiplies strength. Do not isolate. Keep showing up. This day matters. Your yes to God today builds the free life you want tomorrow. Stay the course. He is with you and He is enough.

REFORMED THUG LIFE
READY FOR COVENANT
Hey guys, Wanted to share something I’ve been working on that I’m really excited about. I’m writing a new 60 day pre marital devotional for couples who are thinking about marriage or preparing to walk into it. It’s called Ready for Covenant: A 60-Day Pre-Marital Devotional. It will be out soon as an ebook on Barnes & Noble. Here’s a little taste of Day 1: Day 1: Created for Covenant Genesis 2:18, 24 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. God looked at everything He had made and called it good. Then He looked at the man standing alone in the garden and said something different: “It is not good that the man should be alone.” That is the first time in Scripture God calls anything “not good.” Loneliness was never part of the original design. So He formed a woman from the man’s own side and brought her to him, a helper fit for him, corresponding to him, equal in dignity and counterpart in the work God gave them. Marriage is not a human invention God later decided to bless. It is God’s idea from the beginning. Leaving, holding fast, becoming one flesh, these are the structure He built into creation. Culture can redefine it, delay it, or treat it like a temporary arrangement, but it cannot change what God established in the garden. Most of us carry a mix of ideas about marriage absorbed from movies, social media, family patterns, and our own wounds. Genesis 2 calls us back to the original blueprint. Today’s work is simple but important: Write down three ways your current view of marriage still leans more toward culture than toward Genesis 2. Be honest. Looking at them is the first step toward letting God reset your understanding. Father, reset my understanding of marriage to Your original design. Make me ready for covenant, not convenience. In Jesus’ name, amen. I’ll post the link as soon as the ebook is live on Barnes & Noble.
