Daily Recode - Alignment Over Access

Not every open door belongs to you. Alignment matters more than access.

An opportunity can be good and still not be good for you. Sometimes we’ve been waiting so long for something to change that when a door finally opens, we assume we have to walk through it. It’s available. They chose me.

The money looks good. I’ve been asking for an opportunity. What if another one doesn’t come? But access alone isn’t always confirmation. An open door can still require you to compromise something you value, take on more than you can sustain, or move in a direction you don’t actually want to go. Creating from truth means asking more than: “Can I have this?” It also asks: “Do I want the life that comes with this?”

Reflection

Have I ever mistaken being offered something for evidence that I was supposed to accept it? What would I consider before saying yes if I trusted that this wasn’t my only opportunity?

Today’s Practice

When an opportunity presents itself, don’t only evaluate what you’re gaining. Look at what comes with it. Ask:

Does this align with who I am becoming? What will this require me to give, change, or carry? Can I stand behind the yes after the excitement wears off?

You don’t have to reject something simply because it requires something from you. Just make sure you’re choosing the whole opportunity, not only the part that looks good from the doorway.

Affirmation

I do not have to accept every opportunity available to me. I choose with discernment, not scarcity. I consider what comes with my yes. I trust that access is not more important than alignment.
