Lads, I’ve been guilty lately.
I’ve been massively overindulging in food, especially carbs and not eating anywhere near enough protein these past few days.
And as a consequence my brain fog, and food cravings have been turned up to the max.
Do I feel bad? Not really. I have moment where all I want to do is eat, and usually, I just let myself indulge.
Why the fuck not?
Food is a wonderful thing, and if you are strict on it 100% of the time then that’s just no fun at all is it.
That’s no excuse to be a freak and eat your way into paralysis, but you can enjoy something other than the norm every once in a while.
My weekend consisted of instant noodles, ice cream, chocolate, massive serves of potatoes, homemade pancakes with chicken and cheese, about 15 banananas covered in honey and a shitload of boiled eggs among other things I managed to forage 😂
I felt like a potato later which was expected, but I also didn’t have any serious thinking to do.
I also backed it up with a long walk and a solid home workout.
So if you’re trying to earn incredibly strict every moment of every day, that’s fine, but also understanding when to place your meals and on what days you can indulge so you don’t interrupt your brain when you need it the most is just as important in my opinion.
For me, weekdays are locked in, I eat low carbs, high protein and when I do eat carbs it’s after all of my cognitive work is done and around my workouts.
Then on weekends, I’ll indulge a little.
This weekend was a bit of overkill. But it is what it is, and I enjoyed it.
This might not be the best approach for everyone, but for me it works, and keeps me satisfied with being so strict throughout the week.
Obviously if you’re trying to lose weight don’t go and eat all of your progress away on the weekends.
But also don’t be so strict on yourself to a point where the discipline becomes something you hate—because that’s when things begin to crack under pressure.
Indulge a little, eat the ice cream! Have the pancakes! But back it up with a solid week of good, strategic eating the next week and know when to put the brake on so you don’t spiral.
This is my meal this morning. Easy and light and almost zero carbs before a heavy cognitive load. Carbs will come later. 👊🏼
If you’re struggling with brain fog, lethargy and intense cravings. Take a look at what you’re eating, it may even be healthy, it might just be placed in the wrong spot in your day.
Structure your food around your day to give you the most energy and cognitive output when you need it. If you need a recap check the metabolic baseline, all the info is there.
Have a good day boys.
