Have you ever had one of those evenings where your dog seems to have completely lost the plot? They're zooming around the house, barking at everything, pestering everyone, can't settle and apparently have forgotten everything they've ever learned. It's easy to look at that dog and think they need MORE. Another walk, a game, some training, something to burn off all that energy. But what if the little scallywag is actually overtired? That's what we're exploring this September with Naughty or Sleepy? We're going to take a closer look at how sleep can affect our dogs' behaviour, stress and ability to learn and cope, because there's a lot more to sleep than simply counting how many hours your dog spends lying on the couch. A dog can look like they're resting while still keeping tabs on every person walking through the house, every car door outside and every suspicious leaf that dares to blow past the window. So we'll also look at the difference between simply resting and properly switching off, why some dogs find that harder than others, and whether we sometimes need to stop trying quite so hard to tire our dogs out! Later in the month we'll put it all into practice with a little 7-Day Sleep Experiment to see what we notice about our own dogs. But first I want to hear about your dog. 💤 Do they sleep deeply during the day, or are they always half-listening to what's going on? 😈 Do they have a particular time of day when they tend to go a little feral? 👀 Have you ever noticed their behaviour change after a really busy day or a bad night's sleep? And if there's anything you struggle with when it comes to sleep (your dog's sleep, not yours personally — I'm definitely not qualified for that! 😂) pop it in the comments. It might be getting them to settle, waking through the night, sleeping during the day, constantly being on alert, or something completely different. I'll make sure I address as much as I can in the masterclass. So, tell me about your dog's sleep! 💤
