Have you been in the Classroom yet?
We have had quite a few new Lab members join over the last few weeks. Welcome! It's exciting to have you sharing your thoughts and experiences with color analysis and personality preference systems. Most of what's in the Classroom exists because I wanted it for my own work and couldn't find it anywhere. A lot of you probably haven't clicked over to that tab yet, so here's what's in there. It's all free. Apps: Best-Fit Personality Preference Lab app: If you've ever gotten a different personality type result depending on which test you took, this one is for you. It walks you through the letters people most often flip on and can help you settle on your best fit personality type. Color Attribute Explorer app: The playing-around version of the Five Dimensions (the PDF below). Move one attribute at a time and watch what happens to the color. I have found it SUPER useful for finally feeling the difference between chroma and clarity. Personality x Color Analysis Database app: The one we're building together. As far as I can tell, no one has data on whether personality preference and color type/season have any relationship at all. So we're making it. Go see what's there so far, and add your own if you haven't. PDFs [my initial efforts before I moved to app building]: Personality Preference and Color Implementation pdf: All 16 preferences, and how yours is a genuine strength on this journey once you know how to use it. It covers what tends to get in the way for each type when it's time to actually wear the thing, and how to build an approach that honors the way you already think. The Five Dimensions of Personal Color Analysis pdf: Hue, value, chroma, clarity, contrast. The five things being measured underneath your season name. These terms get mixed up constantly (chroma is not clarity), so the guide takes them one at a time. App in development: Color Analyst x Preference Appeal Index: Still very much a work in progress. I went through analyst websites, looked at the language they use to sell, and mapped it against personality preference. Useful if you're picking an analyst, and also if you are one and you're wondering who your marketing is talking to. I'd really like to know whether this is something you'd find interesting before I take it further. There's a pinned post inside that one, so go have a look at what's there and jump on the post to tell me what you think.

Personality type + color season: building the data set
📊 UPDATE: You can now add your entry directly to the live tracker at mbti-color-season.netlify.app — just scroll down to the entry form. The dataset and charts update in real time! ________________________________________________________________________________ Many of you have already shared your type and season somewhere in the group (the welcome thread, comments, DMs). I'm asking you to drop it here again so I can have it all in one place and start looking at patterns. 👩‍🎓🔍 What I hope to explore, to start, is whether type correlates with anything measurable on the color side (or vice versa). I'll share patterns back with the group as the data set builds and use what comes in to shape the next round of research questions. If you have a pattern you're curious about, drop it in the comments. This is a collective effort. 🧪 The grid starts here. In the future, I will tag new members here so they can continue to add to the data. Drop your information below using this format: MBTI type | color season | any contested or alternate results Example: ESTJ | Dark Autumn | also tested as Deep Winter 👇 If you only have one of the two, drop what you know. Partial data still counts.

The Color Attribute Explorer has been updated!
While experimenting with the color attribute practices, I found that the same color could be interpreted differently depending on where it appeared in the tool. In particular, “chroma” was not being measured the same way in the Explorer and the Color Analyzer. That is now fixed! The Explorer and Analyzer share one consistent system for reading: - Value: how light or dark a color is - Chroma: how much color strength it has - Clarity: how clear or greyed the color appears - Temperature: how warm or cool the resulting color is The modifiers—Tint, Shade, Tone, Toast, and Dull—also now show what actually happened to the color rather than relying on a predetermined description. For example, darkening a vivid green can reduce its visible color strength without making it grey or smoky. The updated tool can now recognize that difference: the color may have lower value and chroma while still remaining highly clear. I also fixed an issue with the pure-hue comparison. When you make the working color warmer or cooler, the original pure-hue swatch now stays unchanged. This gives you a stable starting point, so you can clearly see what your adjustments have done. I also improved the modifier clues in the Analyzer and clarified terms such as saturated, vivid, bright, muted, and soft. Most importantly, the Analyzer now describes a color’s likely pattern without pretending that a hex code can reveal exactly how that color was physically mixed. If you experiment with the updated Explorer, I’d love to know which colors surprise you—or challenge the model.

Personality Quiz #3: Which Cognitive Function Is This?
Let’s try another personality type quiz! Which cognitive function does this describe? They may start with one idea, observation, or question and quickly see several different directions it could go. One possibility reminds them of another, which connects to something else, and before long they may be exploring a path that wasn't obvious when they started. They are often interested in what something could mean or become, not just what it is right now. A new piece of information may cause them to reconsider what they thought they knew, come up with another explanation, or notice a connection between two things that didn't seem related before. They may also be reluctant to settle on one answer too quickly. Even when one explanation seems to fit, they can still find themselves wondering: What else could be going on here? Is there another way to look at this? Which cognitive function does this sound most like? Post your answer below, along with what gave it away!

Color Attribute Explorer Practice #3: Playing with Green
Practice #3. Keeping this one a bit simpler this time. Can you identify which color attributes changed, in which direction, and roughly by how much? Then see if you can recreate the result in the Color Attribute Explorer using the modifier you think produced it. If you do, post your version below! Check back tomorrow for the reveal.
